Bajaj pulsar 220f- just believe...
Rohinton
I got my pulsar 220f from my friend who had purchased it in the very first lot of launch in mumbai in 2010. It is silver colour which is nonstd & paid extra. My friend hardly used it say about 9000 kms in 3 yrs. I had a eye on his bike & one fine day in 2013, I offered to buy & he agreed. So I am owning the bike since then till date. I just don't want to give it up even after 9 years of riding it. I keep it in very good condition being a bike-loving, parsi bawaji!!! the bike, I tell you is superbly maintenance-free. And the best thing about bajaj is that the availability of the spare is so good & unlike other bikes, the original spares are so reasonably priced by the company, that there are no manufacturers of duplicate/spurious spares for bajaj in the market. So since parts are always original so no performance deterioration. All pulsar bikes are designed for comfortable riding & superb handling & believe me, on mumbai roads my bike has overridden so many times on potholes, not once did my bike make me aware of losing my balance nor has it fallen off. So it's the safest bike I know. I had owned jawa, bullet 350 & pulsar 200 previously & they all were maintained properly. But i would rate 220f as my best. I had been on long drives with a pillion from mumbai to ahmedabad, baroda, surat, dahanu, pune & not once did my engine stall due to overheating. The periodic specific kms change in oil keeps the engine in top condition. And the amazing dual spark plug ignition system hasn't failed once even in the coldest environment, save once when my battery had run down when I had gone on long leave. This is an ideal bike for mumbai & Indian roads for daily commutes & for sports & for outstation holidays & long drives. The company should keep the same engine & reintroduce the bike in a spruced-up avataar with some additional features. I am going to keep my pulsar 220f even if I go in for a new bike in the near future.Cheers to bajaj for their most reliable vehicle!! ciao!!!

Tips for other riders
Change oil every 3000 kms & use bajaj's ver own oil gives better mileage & smoother engine. Tubeless tyres with rear ones broader. Keep the battery in running condition. Avoid frequent braking, gear control is the best. Don't rev the engine unnecessarily, try to coax the engine to gather speed as per the gear mesh. When on long speedy outstation drives periodically test the front brakes as these can sometimes develop air pockets & can just totally get pressed without brake operation & can prove fatal. The Pulsar revs to high speeds in no time thanks to its superb pickup. However much you are tempted to gather speed pls don't go beyond 130 km/hr for obvious safety reasons. I had only once touched a high of 149 km/hr but only for that one time. Indian roads are still not built for that kind of speed. So be careful, do it once if you want to test out the prowess of your engine but with all safety precautions, mind you.

Detailed review of BAJAJ PULSAR 220F
Mohammad Waseem
Bajaj Pulsar 220F1. Buying experienceThe Bajaj Pulsar 220F is a high-performance bike that is made for the masses. It looks pretty much the same as its BS4 counterpart. The noticeable changes in this new edition are to the exhaust system and fuel mechanism. For the latest edition, instead of the carburetor, Bajaj includes the fuel-injection mechanism and the exhaust system has been improved. It manages to adhere to the new carbon emission regulations without regressing to advanced and high-end technology. Some feature changes are visible in relation to emission norms such as a larger catalytic converter, EVAP, and redesigning of the exhaust manifold. 2. Riding experience The Bajaj Pulsar 220 F has a powerful engine and with the tough top-end, this bike can maneuver well through extended highways. The technical arrangement allows the bike to sprint from 0 to 60 kmpl in only 3.80 seconds and hit a maximum of 144 kmpl speed. While speeding down on the highways, the bike’s quarter fairing allows it to deflect the strong wind to ensure a smoother and comfortable riding experience. The fuel tank has a maximum capacity of 15 litres and provides ample range especially on long hauls. This bike is a good commuter and is incredible for long rides. 3.design ,looks, performence etc.The sports-inspired Bajaj Pulsar 220 F is geared up with incredible aerodynamics along with an amazing semi-fairing which contributes to its premiumness. The bike’s front profile is carefully furnished with a black visor and twin projector headlights alongside the dual rear-view mirrors. The windshield is big and the headlamp is edgy. The exhaust muffler of the bike has a matte black touch and the bright reflective graphics on its rim differentiate it from Bajaj’s previous models. The instrument cluster of the bike comes with a fibre surround of faux carbon and a blue backlight display. It is informative and easy to rear, consisting of a digitised trip meter, fuel gauge, odometer and speedometer, while the tachometer has analogue functionality. The bike’s clip-on handlebar comes with an electric start, pass switch, self-cancelling blinkers and engine-kill switch. The fuel tank is sharply crafted, having a capacity of 15 litres to ensure comfortability on long hauls. The sporty seat is well-padded for delivering high-end comfort. Coming to the rear, the LED tail light and the split grab-rails are ultra-stylish.The Bajaj Pulsar 220 F is a high-performance bike propelled by a 4-stroke, 220 cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, DTS-i engine coupled with a five-speed unit. The mill of the bike is tuned well to deliver 20.8 Bhp power at 8500 rpm and 19.12 Nm peak torque at 7000 rpm, making the bike one of the most powerful in its segment. The Bajaj Pulsar 220 F has wet multi plate clutches for transmitting power to the DTS-i ignition system and the rear wheel. This arrangement allows the bike to sprint from 0 to 60 kmpl in only 3.80 seconds and hit a maximum of 144 kmpl speed. The braking duties of the bike are handled by the front disc brake (260 mm) and the rear disc brake (230 mm) for enhancing the stopping power and braking controls of the 5-spoke alloy wheels. The telescopic suspension system is coupled with an anti-friction brush that has 5-way adjustability at the front profile. The rear has a Nitrox shock absorber for ensuring comfortability and smoothness on different terrains. 4. Service and maintenanceBajaj grants three free services for the Bajaj Pulsar 220 F and the first service can be obtained after 1 month or upon covering 500 km, the second can be obtained after 8 months or upon covering 4500 km and the third can be obtained after 12 months or upon covering 9500 km. The following four services can be obtained in a span of 14 months and the payment increases for each service. A few other bikes in the same category provide free services over 11000 km and some grant 4-5 free services. Pros:Superb for touring. The posture is very good.Torque is incredible.Pillion friendlyLarge TankAwesome headlamps ( Cant stress the point enough )Very cheap to maintain. Brake pads at 200, chain at 1k, air filter 80.Good fuel economy. I get around 44 in the city and once got above 50 while touring at a sedate paceCons:Vibrates a lot. Later pulsars were betterIncompetent service centers. They ruined my bike :Lacks a sixth gear.Self-cancelling indicators. Really horrible to use. Not a deal breaker thoughHandling could be improved. Brakes too.
