Benelli Imperiale 400 Summary

The Imperiale 400 is Benelli’s modern-retro motorcycle that goes against the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Jawa Standard. The Imperiale 400’s price is higher than its rivals, which went further high during the BS6 transition. However, Benelli recently reduced its price by Rs 10,000 by increasing the degree of localisation in its production.

In terms of design, the Imperiale is a quintessential vintage bike with a round headlamp with a chrome casing flanked by round, chrome finished turn indicators. It also gets more chrome on the tail lamp, mirrors, levers and spoke wheels. It is built around a steel-double cradle frame that holds a peanut-shaped fuel tank and a split-seat setup. Benelli has equipped the bike with a twin-pod instrument cluster with chrome bezels that give it a retro look.

The Imperiale 400 comes powered by a 374cc, single-cylinder motor that produces 20.7bhp of power and 29Nm of torque. Interestingly, these performance numbers are higher as compared to its BS4 counterpart. The engine comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm telescopic forks up front and pre-load adjustable twin shock absorbers at the rear. Meanwhile, braking hardware comprises of 300mm disc brake upfront and a 240mm brake at the rear assisted by dual-channel ABS.

The Benelli Imperiale 400 is offered in three colour options- black, red and silver.

The Imperiale 400 is an entry-level cruiser motorcycle from Benelli. It was launched to take on the high-selling Royal Enfield Classic 350, but haven’t been able to accomplish that. Blame the lack of brand appeal. While the Imperiale 400 does manage to showcase its modern-classic styling, it fails to entice the customers due to lack of modern elements like digital instrument cluster, tubeless tyres and LED lights.

      The bike looks good and is larger compared to RE 350, it's a premium segment bike with an affordable price range, a Good bike with no vibration, super smooth on long drives, cruising experience is too good, overall I feel lucky having this bike.
      Feels heavy as from my experience, you habitat it will not be a major issue

      Worst bike in all aspects please don't buy splendor has better performance
      Riding posture also not comfortable
      Buy some other bike instead it's good they stopped producing this bike don't go for 2nd hand market also

      Never Trust Benelli.

      Firstly, Don't fall for the false sales pitch from these guys. They just want to sell bikes all on false notes, the parts cost a lot just for reference Clutch plates costs around 7500 + 1200 for installation.. Which is crazy and the durability is very low .
      Maintanence is very expensive after 2nd service.
      I would not recommend this bike for daily commute.

      Read this before buying imperiale 400

      As a college student I craved for more power because this was better than a royal enfield but as a typical teenager I changed its exaust, and now I technically got a single cylinder bike which sounds like a parallel twin engine and has significantly increased power and pickup, despite the exaust the engine is still smooth like a butter but the only thing which troubles me is the availability of parts at the showroom, the service is poor so I have no hate for the bike but it needs a weight reduction and a better-turning radius cuz this is like turning a car.

      The buying experience was good, got it delivered in under 1week. Ever since the first ride till now, this bike is smooth as butter and beautiful for Indian roads. 1,500 idle RPM is a bit high for traffic situations, and low RPM pickup on 2nd gear is not good so got to keep changing to 1st which affects mileage. Servicing and maintenance are higher than RE but worth it because it's a better bike as well. Pros: Looks, Power, Everything else. Cons: Front headlamp should be LED, Double stand too low.

      The Ultimate Retro is Here Finally

      The buying experience was fantastic. Got all info before purchasing. This bike may not be comfortable for daily commuting in the city where traffic is an issue. But for long rides and tours believe me, this is a beast. You won't be tired riding it all day. Look wise it has always been a head-turner for me. Benelli has the largest dealership network compared to any superbike brand in India as it has nearly 50 showrooms and service centres across the country and its expanding more.
      Some minor cons regarding the bike are its center stand touches the speed breaker, especially with a pillion. The seat is a bit hard. Pillion seat you have to work on it for long tours. Maintaining is not so expensive but yes you have to handle the bike delicately. Warranty extension facilities are there at an affordable prices.

      Worst bike experience.... Not recommended for buying this worst bike.. Worst service centre in chennai nandhanam

      My first impression got by service cost but when a new bike was given for the first service after one-month bike got stopped in the middle road and then taken a bike at my own expense of spending 2000rs in a tempo van and then showroom giving an ignition problem ok that too fine. Recently on Feb '23 given a bike clutch plate change in 8k km then after a month in April '23 again got an issue with gear shifting but the showroom person told me that has a problem in the engine sector told.

      The bike performance is very good.
      But when it comes to maintenance it is too costly.
      Every now & then you will have a problem.
      When you have a service station 40km from your location very hard to find a spare part for Benelli in my location.
      The average of this bike can get up to 25kmpl. The only reason not to buy this is because of the service station.

      After using it for 3 years I am writing my experience 1st problem split seat very horrible back suspension is very hard, if you are doing long trips you can go with this for city drive I will not recommend it can not drive for 50 km my arms body starts painting its very difficult to drive city gulls,
      2nd problem bike is made in china I am riding daily 40 km my office is just 12 from my home 16000 km I have spent rs 9500 chain, the cone set rs5000, the front fork oil seal rs 3000 clutch started problems now, I am taking a bike on time for service even for city drive I have spent more than 40k for replacing in 3 years time
      Look & performance wise it's good but the quality so worst, bajaj bike has better quality

      Very costly to maintain and not user friendly

      First of all its very costly compared to other bikes available in this segment. Furthermore, the maintenance cost is 4-5 times high as compared to normal costs. Support for this bike is also very rare, with no alloy wheels, and low mileage. Better to go for royal Enfield. Benelli does not provide any accessories.
