Whenever one talks about upgrading to a big bike, it's good to start from middleweight offerings, and preferably a 650cc one. Moreover, now that there are plenty of options available, potential buyers have a wide price range to choose from without breaking the bank.

So, we have listed the top five most affordable 650cc bikes that you can purchase right now in India.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

The Interceptor 650 is currently the entry ticket for buyers looking to purchase their first big bike. Royal Enfield launched it a few years ago and has made notable changes since then. The latest version gets alloy wheels with tubeless tyres along with new colours. The Royal Enfield Interceptor has carried over its retro styling and is powered by a 648cc twin-cylinder motor and it makes 47bhp and 52Nm. This engine is filled with character and accelerates in a fun manner with oodles of torque so you don’t have to downshift repeatedly. Not to mention, the Interceptor’s meaty thumper exhaust too is quite addictive. Its asking price is set at Rs. 3.03 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base model.

Kawasaki Z650

Kawasaki has been quite popular in the 650cc segment as the Japanese bikemaker has many offerings on sale in India. Its most affordable one is the Z650 with the asking price set at Rs. 6.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Z650’s muscular styling, punchy engine and overall road presence make it quite enticing. Moreover, the 649cc motor makes 67.31bhp and 64 Nm and is quite rev-happy too. The Kawasaki Z650 also gets a handful of features like full LED illumination, TFT with smartphone connectivity, traction control, and ABS.

Moto Morini X-Cape

The Moto Morini X-Cape is a relatively bigger jump in terms of pricing after the Royal Enfield offering. The X-Cape is priced at Rs. 7.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and sits in the Adventure-touring category. We tested it last year and were surprised by how good of a package it offers overall. But what you need to remember before purchasing the X-Cape is its Chinese origin. This raises questions about its credibility and the overall brand recall too is quite low. That said, you can read our detailed review of the X-Cape 650 here.

Triumph Trident 660

Another premium offering apart from the 650cc Kawasaki is the Triumph Trident. This one flies rather under the radar but is quite a likeable motorcycle. Powering the Trident is a 660cc inline three-cylinder engine and it belts out 79.8bhp at 10,250rpm and 64Nm of peak torque. Moreover, this engine offers smooth acceleration with a linear power delivery. This makes it convenient to ride in the city as well as the highway. Further, the Trident 660 appears just as premium as any other large-capacity Triumph bike. Its asking price is set at Rs. 8.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and here is our take on whether you should purchase one.

Triumph Tiger Sport 660

The Tiger Sport 660 is essentially a faired version of the Triumph Trident. However, the Tiger Sport 660 is more of a sport-touring motorcycle with a taller and roomier build. The Tiger Sport 660 is also the most affordable Tiger from the Triumph lineup. It gets the same engine as the Trident and the power figures too are identical. The asking price for the Tiger Sport 660 is set at Rs. 9.47 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
