The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 is a quarter-litre, scrambler-styled motorcycle which shares its underpinnings and engine with the KTM 250 Duke. The motorcycle will be sold in India through KTM dealerships and production is being carried out at Bajaj’s facility in Chakan.
Husqvarna’s line-up comprises of Svartpilen and Vitpilen models, of which the former is a scrambler and the latter carries a café racer styling. The 250cc models bearing these names have been developed majorly for the Indian market. Notably, they borrow their styling from the Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 401 which are currently available in the international markets.
The Svartpilen is an amalgamation of a retro scrambler and a modern street bike in terms of design. It sports a round-shaped headlamp which is a full-LED unit. Sitting on top of it is a single-pod digital instrument cluster which shows ample of information. The angular fuel tank stretches up to under the rider’s seat and blends with a high-set, stubbly tail section integrating compact LED tail lamp. Lending it a scrambler appeal are the tall handlebar with brace, metal cladding on the fuel tank and rugged-pattern tyres.
Coming to the hardware, most of the components such as engine, frame, suspension and brakes are the same as the 250 Duke. Its 248.76cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine clings on to a steel trellis frame. Damping duties are handled by upside down forks and a monoshock, both sourced from WP. Dropping anchors are a 320mm disc upfront and a 230mm disc at the rear, both accompanied by ByBre calipers. Dual-channel ABS comes as a standard fitment.
In India, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 goes up against its own cousin, the KTM 250 Duke, along with other quarter-litre offerings including Suzuki Gixxer 250 and the Yamaha FZ25.

Got a lot more than the looks

You have to love the looks of this bike, not too flashy and absolutely beautiful. The Duke engine got plenty of bites, no complains, perfect for city rides. Ride comfort isn't great, you are gonna feel the bumps, but open roads its lovely to ride. Love the seating position, makes maneuvering through traffic quite easy and fun. Dual-channel ABS does hurt no one, The brakes have great stopping power, gonna come in handy.

Great to look at and fun to ride.

Riding experience is overall is good, suspension could have been a bit softer. It’s hard to find neutral in this gearbox. The biggest con of this bike is the small fuel tank, but it is manageable. But in the looks department this thing is a beauty, people can’t stop complimenting me about the bike, in traffic stops, sometimes keep honking to ask me about the bike, even the traffic hawaldar. Overall it’s a good bike.

Best in class 250 in India!!

Here is my review of owning a huski svartpilen 250:Props:Best in class power. The engine produces strong power in the mid and high-end. The low end is linear.Very agile and compact bike. Easy to sprint past the traffic.Eye-catchy design. Be ready to answer lots of questions about the bike when you park it roadside.Very comfortable to ride. The sitting position is good for someone like me who is 5.7. The bike looks small but trust me it has enough space for 2 people. I ride it with my friend like 100 km a day and it does not make any of us uncomfortable at all.Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase. It's a nice bike to own.Talking about some cons!!1: tank capacity- I thought it might not affect me but it does. You are looking at a range of 280 km with a full tank. Once you drive it around 180 km, it starts to show you the low fuel range on the display which is kinda annoying trust me.2: seat height is a bit on the high side. The struggle is real when you have to pull it back when sitting on the bike. 3: ground clearance is okay!! if you are from a city like Surat, then fine road bumps are not an issue for meIf you are okay with low fuel range then go for it, it is better than any other 250-300 cc bike in India!!
