Kawasaki Vulcan S [2022] Summary

Kawasaki has introduced the 2022 Vulcan S in the Indian market. The changes to the 2022 iteration of the middleweight cruiser motorcycle are limited to cosmetic upgrades. The motorcycle is now available in Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray colour. The new paint theme includes a silver and gray colour combination on the fuel tank and on the radiator shrouds.

The Vulcan S already complied with the BS6 emission norms. Thus, the mechanical specifications retain the 649cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor that makes 59.94bhp of maximum power at 7,500rpm and 62.4Nm of peak torque at 6,600rpm. The engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox.

The feature list remains unaltered and the 2022 Kawasaki Vulcan S retains a halogen headlight, a semi-digital instrument cluster with gear position indicator, 18-inch front/17-inch rear wheels, a 14-litre fuel tank, an under-engine exhaust canister, and relaxed ergonomics. The hardware on the Vulcan S includes telescopic front forks, a rear mono-shock, single discs on both wheels, and dual-channel ABS.

The Kawasaki Vulcan S rivals the Benelli 502C cruiser in the Indian market. The Chinese-owned Italian brand offers the 502C at a lower price tag than the Kawasaki Vulcan S.

Kawasaki Vulcan S [2022] Review

  • Good Things

    • Offers a comfortable riding position
    • Has a refined 649cc engine
    • Gets good build quality
  • Could be Better

    • The rear suspension is stiff
    • Could get a better instrument cluster
    • Weight is on the heavier side

BikeWale's Take

The Vulcan S is Kawasaki’s only cruiser offering in the Indian market. It offers a comfortable riding position thanks to the forward set footrests and slightly sweptback handlebars. Moreover, it also gets a refined 649cc engine and good built quality to match. On the other hand, it could do better with an updated instrument cluster and pliant rear suspension.

      Powerful machine

      Pranav Shukla

The overall buying experience was amazing, the bike itself is an awesome machine, looks absolutely stunning. Gives the best riding experience ever, seating position is quite comfortable too. Servicing from dealership is easy they're humble and really polite people. The pros of this bike is that you're buying a freaking Kawasaki, with such power. The cons is that sometimes the bike feels super heavy and uncontrollable and the mileage isn't good enough. And the rear suspension is a bit stiff and make screechy sounds after about a year.

Great crossover bike from cruiser to sports adv

      Avinash Nambiar

Bought the bike in Dec 21 and received it within 10-12 days; it looks and feels absolutely great and is a really underrated cruiser , probably because it has silent exhaust and not like other cruisers with a loud thump. But the engine makes tremendous power and the bike pulls like crazy on the road with a comfortable riding posture giving a great riding experience. Petrol tank could have been a little bigger as the 14l tank with 20kmpl average causes more refueling on long trips. I have driven 3000 km in a month and the driving pleasure is beautiful. Ground clearance is around 130mm and causes catcon to touch on certain steep speed breakers. Long rides are really comfortable with no back or shoulder stress at all . Perfect bike for those who want to shift from cruisers to sports/adventure bikes.

      Tips for other riders

Rear monoshock suspension is best to be adjusted to level 4-5 on the hard side as the softer setting causes bike to hit certain speed breakers on highways

A powerhouse machine a true beast

      Sandeep Parashar

I bought this powerful machine in Feb 2022. I’ve driven around 2000 kms.
      - looks: amazing, and is a great head turner. People take pictures of my bike, and sometimes girls too.
      - power: this is a powerful machine that goes to 100 kms in seconds. You can drag it in any gear, won’t disappoint you.
      - ground clearance: yes it’s a challenge only on speed breakers and potholes, but I guess nobody drives at speed in both cases, you usually slow down any vehicle. (changing the exhaust can solve this problem, I changed it.
      - mileage: 20 kms
      - weight: it’s around 250kgs if you install an engine guard. Yes it’s a heavy machine and it should be, after all, it’s a superbike. But no difficulties while driving it run smoothly.
      - sound: biggest disappointment is the sound. It's very very low due to the bs6 compliance. It doesn’t justify this powerful machine. You’ll have to change the exhaust for sure, as I did.
      - heating issue: not at all, though it's a 650 cc engine.
      - service cost: around 7k
      - should you buy it? yes for sure, it’s way better than Harley street 750 and the best in this price segment. Go for it.

Clean bike chain after a long ride and regular service, nothing else needs to worry.
