  • A fuel guzzler!!!

    Style

a stylishly built scooter stands out in the crowd and is beaten probably only by yamaha ray or honda dio on looks parametre. Nonetheless the structure is basic enough to not let a senior citizen out of place while riding. The plastics could have been better. However, the scooter provides you with a huge storage, digital display panel, anti theft lock key and a led light in storage space and makes it one of a kind feature rich scooter. Overall 7.5 On 10 for style.

Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox

mahindra has come up with a winderful engine. Amazing pick up followed by a top performance and the bike reaches 80-85 kmph with unbelievable ease and yet provides the stability that one needs. On road performance wise it leaves its competitiors like activa otr wego way behind. Probably suzuki access matches its performnace. 8 On 10 for engine performance.

Fuel economy os the biggest letdown by the mahindra rodeo. Whereas all the competitors tender a figure between 42 and 47 kmpl, rodeo stands at a disappointing 32 kmpl. Carry it through a heavy traffic and the figure stoops below 30 kmpl.

Moreover, the digital panel provides the reading only for 2.5 Ltrs of fuel while the tank measures 4.5 Ltrs. That means you assume you have 4.5 Ltrs in the kitty as the fuel metre shows that but realise later that you have run out of fuel in the midst of a travel.

Overall 3 on 10 for fuel economy.

    Ride quality & handling

ride quality is amazing. The turning radius is not probably as fine as a tvs wego but the ride is much comfortable and enjoyable than any other competitior except probably yamaha ray or suzuki access.

Handelling too is impressive and it slips through the traffice very well. Responds well on turns and yes it is unbelievably stable compared to its sleek looks.

Overall 8.5 On 10 for ride quality and handling.

    Final words

mahindra rodeo is a performer and will not disappoint you if you are looking for a performance oriented scooter. Fuel economy is a curse to this scooter and that itself is biggets deterrent in buying it. You can shut your eyes and buy it if your daily commutting is around 10 km. More than that and you feel the pinch on your pocket.

No resale value. A three year old scooter won't fetch you even 20000/- in second hand market.

Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox good ,worst & ok.

    Ride quality & handling good.

Final words the worst decision in my life to purchase this bike, each serivce has cost me 2000 - 3000 rupees, alternatively some major part would conk off & burden me with the bills , problems on self starting, kick starting too difficult, clutch problems, finally after running the vehicle for 3 years last service i did in the month of february 2015, just after a week the vehicle didnt start & me spending 2750/- on the serivce, the service engineer said that engine has to rebored. Oh come on i could not bear it anymore, when i asked him to exchange for the gusto i was told the best they could offer was 5000 - 8000 , i had bought the vehicle for 54000 i think so, sheer waste of money. The total that i spent on the bike for service would be close to 30000/-

  • Buy mahindra rodeo and get fooled

Mahindra is taking the market for granted and will ripe what it sowed very soon.

The monopoly of servicing centers created by not providing the spares to open market is a planned strategy to fleas the owners after selling the bike.

Service centers are irresponsible and unkind. They are not only unprofessional but wouldn't mind compromising safety of the rider for money.

    The most useless bike since:-

    A) it develops too many faults too soon.

    B) can be repaired at mahindra service centers only who do not provide pickup service.

    C) all other service centers or roadside garages refuse to repair the bike even for the most critical issues. Rider have to drag the bike or arrange for the transportation. Imagine the plight of ladies and senior citizens?

    D) the resale value is nil since no one buys it for want of spares. No brands accept the rodeo in exchange for the same reason.

    E) service centers create problems deliberately and charge heavenly thereafter - making the fuel pipe leak and malfunctioning the fuel gauge is very common. They are not bothered if the bike is stuck in the wilderness at odd hours as far as they are making money.

    F) servicing done is very poor and not on time.

    G) owing to monopoly, the staff is unkind and unprofessional. There dealing with the senior citizens and ladies is equally rude.

    Better to avoid such product.

  • Rodeo stylish features not the functions

    Susan V

Am a working women and daily commuting to the office in public transport is not that easy. So, i thought it is better to buy a bike and start using it. As i was new to riding, me and my husband decided to buy a smaller bike which i can handle easily. We had two choice in mind, one is scooty and other is rodeo which was new to market.

So, we thought of buying this new bike from mahindra which was launched in 2009.

The buying experience was good, the dealer was nice and delivered bike on time.

Reason for choosing rodeo over scooty

    1. Gook look

    2. Smaller size

    3. Digital tachometer

    4. Usb mobile phone charger

    5. Petrol tank in the front side of bike rather than back side in most other bikes. No need to get down from bike for putting petrol

    6. Guys look better riding rodeo than riding scooty.

    7. Ambient space under the seat.

But after riding the bike i face lot of issue so the cons and pros are

    1. Self-start never works properly, which is most important in a lady’s bike.

    2. Mileage is very less.

    3. Low ground clearance.

I had to spend lot of money repairing it and it never fixed properly, though i was using the bike from past 8 year it gave me trouble many times. However, some pros of this bike are

    1. Bike tyre has got punctured only once in last 8 years

    2. Bike metallic body finish is good and no scratches even though it fell down couple of times

As the self-start and mileage is most important for any bike i would suggest not to go for this bike.

If mahindra can try to improve the cons mentioned, then rodeo can be the best bike in the market especially for the beginners. Anyways am done with it and planning to buy a new bike.

Only one thing in rodeo best is its front brake is like bike and for this thing only i bought it for its looks and digital meter but after 2 years it start giving problem. When i wanted to go somewhere it closes in traffic which annoyed me and easily it cannot start by pressing electric start. • Mahindra may be top player in four wheeler business but does very bad in the two wheeler business.

    Mahesh Rathod

The worst problem of this bike is that the head light of this bike focuses in the sky even if i use low beam which makes it extremely difficult to ride it at night.

I was attracted to this bike because of its price, suspension (the so called telescopic suspension as stated by the company in its features), digital speedometer, and the most important one its horse power(110 cc).

But only after a few days the bike started showing problems. The fuel indicator failed only within 30 days. I cant express the pain i went through to ride the bike with empty fuel tank to nearest fuel station which was nearly 2 kms away!!! so i showed it to the service station and they fixed the problem but the system failed again in the next few days and the whole system had to be replaced with insurance money!!!! slowly the suspension and mileage also wearied down.

    Arka Dey

This scooty is good in look, balance, power delivery or pick up. But its worst point is fuel mileage. I have count hardly 35kmpl millage. It very high maintenance cost. Every time i servicing my scooty there is a bill of 700-1000 rupees average amount i spent on it. But i still own this scooty with all it problem. It has a very bad mileage giving scooty. Absolutely not pocket friendly.

  • A fuel guzzler!!!

a stylishly built scooter stands out in the crowd and is beaten probably only by yamaha ray or honda dio on looks parametre.

    Areas of improvement

fuel economy. I am not sure if the rz model has a improved fuel economy but for the standard model it is a disaster.
