- 2023 Husqvarna Svarptilen spied
- Gets a refreshed design
- Mechanicals have been updated too
Husqvarna was recently spied testing what’s expected to be the next-generation model of the Svartpilen 401. The spy shots suggest that this will be a majorly overhauled version of the scrambler-styled offering.
While it retains the neo-retro design theme of the existing Svarptilen 401, there are certain distinctions. The round headlamp looks larger and flatter while the fuel tank sides are longer and extend almost up to the front forks. It continues to get a rack on the fuel tank but it has been designed differently now. At the rear, the extended tail section means it will be more comfortable than the existing iteration of the Svartpilen. Nestled ahead of the flat handlebar is a rectangular instrument cluster that’ll mostly be a full-colour TFT display.
Coming to the engine, while this is definitely a single-cylinder mill, the overall casing looks unfamiliar and new. Notably, the upcoming version of the KTM 390 Duke was spied in April last year which was running on a nearly identical-looking engine. This is most likely the replacement of the existing 373cc engine but the finishing on the casing suggest it is at the prototype stage as of now. As for the cycle parts, the WP suspension setup and ByBre brakes have been retained but the brackets that hold the caliper look different.
The international launch of the next-generation Husqvarna Svartpilen is expected to take place by early 2023. And of course, it will also be accompanied by the new Vitpilen which is its café-racer derivative.
