Royal Enfield has introduced the much-awaited alloy wheels on its middleweight motorcycles, the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. We recently got an opportunity to ride both these motorcycles extensively for a comprehensive road test review. Here, we present the best images from the road test review of the 2023 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 with alloy wheels.
The styling of the 2023 model remains unaltered, and the latest iteration of the motorcycle carries forward a familiar, retro design. This comprises a round shape for the headlight, a twin-pod instrument cluster with an LCD, and a tear-drop-shaped fuel tank.
The instrument cluster packs an analogue speedometer and tachometer, while the odometer and trip meters are available on the digital display.
While the design is similar to the previous version, the 2023 model benefits from an LED headlight and new rotary-style switchgear.
Further, this motorcycle now gets a conveniently located USB charger that is placed under the left-side switchgear.
Another major upgrade comes with the addition of alloy wheels that receive tubeless tyres. These, however, are limited to the Barcelona Blue and Black Ray paint options. These colour themes also get a blacked-out look to various components such as engine covers, exhaust canisters, headlight mount, and rear fender.
The mechanical specifications retain the 648cc, parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled engine as the previous model. Notably, this motor is now OBD2 and E20 compliant. The peak power and torque output figures are rated at 47bhp at 7,150rpm and 52Nm at 5,250rpm, respectively.
The tall-set handlebar and neutral-set footpegs deliver upright and comfortable ergonomics. However, the lack of windblast protection can become uncomfortable post 100kmph.
The suspension hardware on this motorcycle remains similar to the previous version. Thus, the 2023 Interceptor 650 continues to use telescopic front forks and twin rear springs.
The braking setup includes single discs on both wheels, while the safety net comprises a dual-channel ABS.
