Royal Enfield finally launched the updated Interceptor 650 in India with some notable updates for 2023. The bike now costs more but has been tweaked on the mechanical as well as the visual front. Let’s take a look at it.
Cosmetic Updates
While the Interceptor’s design remains largely unchanged, it now sports a fresh paint scheme of Black Ray where it gets gloss black paint all over with golden stripes and badging on the tank. Then there’s the Barcelona Blue where the entire bike comes draped in Blue with orange and shades of yellow on the fuel tank. It makes for an attractive contrast to the Blue.
Engine
The 2023 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 gets an updated motor. It now adheres to the OBD-2 (onboard diagnostics) norms which allow the bike to monitor real-time emissions. Apart from that, the 648cc parallel-twin motor mated to a six-speed gearbox remains unchanged. It dishes out 47bhp and 52Nm.
New Wheels
So far, the Interceptor came equipped with spoked wheels from the factory. But now, Royal Enfield has launched it with 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in CEAT tyres. This would make it convenient to ride the bike to a repair shop in case of punctures. Moreover, existing customers can retrofit this on their Interceptors as well.
Features
Royal Enfield offers the 2023 model with an LED headlight just like the Super Meteor 650. It too can be retrofitted on the older models but owners will need to opt for a better battery as well. Apart from that, the Interceptor 650 now comes with an adjustable front brake and clutch lever, thereby adding to the convenience.
