- Royal Enfield showcases custom scrambler based on Interceptor 650
- Gets styling reminiscent of vintage British scramblers
- Displayed only as a show bike
Royal Enfield’s arena has been quite mellow at this year’s EICMA as the viewers didn’t get to see an all-new product. However, the bike maker has something interesting to showcase in the form of a custom scrambler based on its flagship model, the Interceptor 650.
While the overall styling remains essentially the same, a few additional elements make it truly attention grabbing. The most prominent add-on is a pair of high-set exhaust set up, reminiscent of old-school British scramblers. It also features chunky off-road tyres at both ends wrapped around 18-inch spoke wheels adorning dual-tone colour scheme. Completing its scrambler styling is the chopped rear fender and a new paint scheme which looks like a combination of silver and dark green.
Besides these changes, the motorcycle remains unchanged in all other aspects. The Interceptor 650 is powered by a 648cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin motor which churns out 47bhp and 52Nm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Damping duties are handled by telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers while braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends. This is assisted by dual-channel ABS set up which comes as standard.
Regardless of how much we wished this Interceptor 650-based scrambler to be a production model, the tag on the bike clearly states that it is a show bike. Nevertheless, this should be an inspiration for those Interceptor owners seeking customization ideas for their motorcycles.
