- First Husqvarna bike will be launched next year
- Vitpilen 401, Svartpilen 401 will be manufactured in India
- Husqvarna will likely be positioned above KTM
Bajaj Motorcycles will launch its first Husqvarna motorcycle in India next year. This news was confirmed during the company’s annual general body meeting in Pune.
In fact, the company will launch not one but two Husqvarna bikes, the Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 401. These bikes will be manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan plant starting next year. Just like the KTMs, the Husqvarnas will be heavily localised and will be exported to the rest of the world.
Interestingly, the top honcho of the company, Rajiv Bajaj also mentioned about announcing new developments under its alliance with Triumph Motorcycles in the next few weeks. The alliance that was forged early this year will see both the companies working together to create new motorcycles in the middle-weight category.
Bajaj is likely to ask for premium for this Husqvarna as it will be positioned as a premium brand above KTM. This will help the Pune-based manufacturer cover a wider segment and increase its overall market share.
