Royal Enfield is all set to launch the BS6 model of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 in India soon. Dealers in select cities have started accepting bookings for the bikes at Rs 10,000 while deliveries are likely to begin next month. Interestingly, we have also received the pricing for the bikes from our dealer sources, which reveals it will be around Rs 9,000 more than their BS4 counterpart.
The prices of the outgoing models of the Interceptor and Continental GT start at Rs 2.56 lakhs and Rs 2.71 lakhs, respectively. On the other hand, the BS6 model of the former costs Rs 2.65 lakhs while the latter is pegged at Rs 2.80 lakhs. Meanwhile, the top-end chrome variants of the BS6 Interceptor and Continental will go up to Rs 2.85 lakhs and Rs 3.01 lakhs, respectively. (All prices are ex-showroom)
Besides the BS6 update, both bikes are expected to remain unchanged in all other aspects. Powering them is a 648cc, parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled motor which comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. While it churns out 47bhp and 52Nm in the BS4 form, power figures might slightly vary in the BS6 model. Both bikes ride on 18-inch wheels which are suspended by telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends while ABS is offered as standard.
In other news, Royal Enfield recently launched the BS6 version of the Himalayan. The prices start at Rs 1.86 lakhs which is a premium of around Rs 6,000 over the previous model.
