- Features a single-sided exhaust
- Likely to use the BS6-compliant 349cc engine
- Unveiling/launch details not available yet
Spy photographers have spotted a new Royal Enfield motorcycle that appears to be a budget-friendly, lower-displacement iteration of the Interceptor 650. The new spy images only reveal the rear of the test mule that resembles the Interceptor 650, albeit with a single-sided exhaust setup instead of the twin-sided unit on the 649cc motorcycle.
The test mule is seen with upright ergonomics, although the company may also introduce a GT version of the motorcycle that will most likely come with clip-on style handlebars. Royal Enfield may not develop an all-new engine for this motorcycle. Thus, this new, budget-friendly version of the Interceptor 650 could come with the company’s BS6-compliant 349cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that currently powers the Meteor 350. The engine on the Meteor 350, for reference, is tuned to deliver 20.2bhp at 6,100rpm and 2Nm at 4,000rpm.
The styling could be similar to the 650 Interceptor that is already available in several markets, including India. The budget-friendly cycle parts would include telescopic front forks and twin-sided rear springs to perform the suspension tasks. The anchoring setup will comprise of single discs on both wheels while the safety net will include dual-channel ABS. The feature list could include Royal Enfield’s Tripper navigation system – a turn-by-turn navigation function that debuted on the Meteor 350.
The launch details for this budget-friendly Interceptor are scarce, although we could see it arrive by mid- to late-2021.
