- Husqvarna Svartpilen 250, Vitpilen 250 to be launched in February in India
- Both bikes are based on the KTM 250 Duke
- Likely to be priced around Rs 2.2-2.5 lakhs (ex-showroom)
Husqvarna surprised us at the 2019 India Bike Week in Goa by unveiling the all-new Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 250, which are majorly developed for the Indian market. At the grand unveiling of the motorcycles, the president of Probiking at Bajaj Auto, Sumeet Narang, told us that both the huskies will be launched in India by early-February 2020.
The top honcho also stated that these motorcycles will be positioned above the KTM 250 Duke, the motorcycle on which both the Husqvarnas are based. In that case, expect the pricing to be in the ballpark of Rs 2.2-2.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). Moreover, as we had reported earlier, Bajaj Auto will be selling these motorcycles through the existing KTM dealerships across India, alongside the recently launched Urbanite Chetak e-scooter.
The Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 borrow the styling from their 400cc siblings which are already on sale in the international markets. While the former boasts of a scrambler design, the latter sports a café racer theme. The circular headlamp houses LED lamps while the tail lamp and turn indicators are also LED. For displaying information, it gets a fully-digital instrument round cluster.
Powering the huskies is a 248cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor which does duty on the 250 Duke as well. It churns out 26.9bhp and 24Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Based on a steel trellis frame, both bikes are suspended by inverted forks and a monoshock while braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard.
