- E-Pilen electric bike under development
- Will be made in India
KTM and Bajaj are planning a huge onslaught in the growing electric mobility segment. Both the companies are working together to develop a new EV platform and it looks like there will be a electric Husqvarna motorcycle being developed as well.
According to an investor presentation of Pierer Mobility – the company that owns KTM and Husqvarna, there will be an electric motorcycle making its debut in 2022. This e-bike will be called ‘E-Pilen’ and will be made by Bajaj at their plant in Chakan, India.
The presentation also had a low-res sketch of E-Pilen. It looks like this green motorcycle will be made available in 4kW and 10kW variants. With such power output, expect this Husqvarna to compete in the entry-level EV segment.
Bajaj and KTM have been jointly working on a common electric platform that will have products ranging from 3kW to 10kW using a 48V electric system. The Bajaj Chetak was the first product to come out of this platform. There are a few more in the pipeline including an e-scooter that will be sold under the KTM brand.
