- Shares engine, underpinnings and hardware with KTM 250 Duke
KTM dealers in India have commenced the deliveries of the Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 250. The quarter-litre motorcycles were launched in February this year at Rs 1.80 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Both motorcycles are available through select KTM dealerships across the country. The bookings are open for a token amount of Rs 5,000.
The Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 250 are the first products from the Swedish motorcycle manufacturer to debut in the Indian market. Both motorcycles share their underpinnings and engine with KTM’s 250 Duke naked roadster. Thus, the Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 250 are built around a trellis frame that’s bolted to the sub-frame. The shock absorption tasks are handled by upside-down telescopic front forks and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at the back.
Engine specifications are similar to the KTM 250 Duke, and the quarter-litre Husqvarna models use a 248cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that delivers 29.6bhp of power and 24Nm of torque. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox. Anchoring power comes from disc brakes at both wheels while the safety net comprises of dual-channel ABS.
While the underpinnings and engine specifications are identical, the styling is different on both motorcycles. The Svartpilen 250 features scrambler-inspired styling while the Vitpilen 250 gets a café-racer design.
