Husqvarna launched its most powerful bike in India recently, the Svartpilen 401 scrambler. The Swedish bike was on sale internationally earlier and has now made it to India in its latest iteration. Here is what it gets.
Design
Husqvarna has reworked the Svartpilen 401 on the cosmetic as well as the mechanical front. It has received a new fascia in the form of a larger LED headlight with an LED ring around it and a small visor as well. Then, the side panels now end below the centre of the rider seat compared to the older bike that had a longer piece. Even the tank design is new as the protrusions have been moved ahead.
Then, Husqvarna has equipped the 2024 Svartpilen 401 with a proper tail setup instead of a single-sided tyre hugger. The right side profile now looks cleaner as the side-mounted exhaust has been tucked under the belly.
Features
Along with the cosmetics, the 2024 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 also gets better and more features. It comes with a ride-by-wire, traction control, Supermoto ABS, and other features, including a five-inch TFT with optional smartphone connectivity and a type-C charging port.
Engine
Powering the new Svartpilen 401 is a 398.6cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine and it belts out 46bhp at 9,000rpm and 39Nm at 7,000rpm. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox and benefits from a bi-directional quickshifter. The setup is similar to what the new KTM 390 Duke gets.
Hardware
Husqvarna has offered WP Apex USD front forks and an adjustable WP Apex monoshock on the Svartpilen 401. Its braking setup includes a 320mm front and 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. These are mounted on 17-inch spoke wheels wrapped in 110/70 front and 150/60 rear Pirelli block pattern tyres.
Price
The asking price of the new Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is Rs. 2,92,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This makes it about Rs. 19,000 more affordable than the KTM 390 Duke and about Rs. 29,000 more expensive than the Triumph Scrambler 400X.
