Husqvarna India is about to finally launch its 400cc offering here soon. The first product could be the Svartpilen 401 and it is likely to debut in January 2024, as per our sources. The model has been spotted testing previously and here is what we expect from the 2024 Husqvarna Svartpilen 401.
Rugged Design
The test mules have revealed that the 2024 Husqvarna 401 will get a butch bodywork consisting of a round LED headlight, muscular fuel tank with the edges protruding outside from the top, tank rack, split seat, and a single-piece grab-rail. Unlike the 2023 model, which was sold overseas, the new Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is likely to get an underbelly exhaust.
KTM-shared Engine
It’s no secret that KTM engines are borrowed by Husqvarna motorcycles too. So, the 2024 Svartpilen 401 will use the new KTM 390 Duke’s 399cc, single-cylinder engine. It makes 45bhp and 39Nm for the Duke and we expect the Svartpilen to also get the same power figures. While the bike will get a six-speed gearbox, we don’t expect it to borrow the Duke’s bi-directional quickshifter.
Purposeful Hardware
As seen on the test mule, the Svartpilen will come with USD front forks and an offset monoshock. Its brakes will include a front and rear disc with dual-channel ABS. These will be mounted on 17-inch wheels. But it is yet to be known whether Husqvarna will offer the bike with spoke wheels or alloys as standard. Since the Svartpilen 401 is a scrambler, we won’t be surprised if it comes with spoke wheels wrapped in block pattern tyres.
Decent Features
Husqvarna will offer the Svartpilen 401 with full LED illumination, dual-channel ABS, side stand sensor, and a digital console, which will likely be an LCD instead of a TFT. This will allow the Swedish bikemaker to keep the cost low. It’s likely to miss out on smartphone connectivity, too. However, the Svartpilen 401 could also get ride-by-wire for added convenience.
Asking Price
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 is likely to be priced between Rs. 2.65 - 2.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This will make it about Rs. 40,000 more affordable than the KTM 390 Duke. Once launched, the Husqvarna bike will rival the Yezdi Scrambler, Triumph Scrambler 400 X, and the Royal Enfield Scram 411.
