- Gets major upgrades for 2019
- New subframe, new cylinder head, new piston
- Will go on sale in Europe in September
Swedish off-road bike maker Husqvarna has unleashed their 2019 edition of the FS450 Supermoto. This bike is based on the FC450 which is a motocross bike.
It’s quite interesting to see how Husqvarna is updating bikes on regular basis. In 2016, FS450 saw a major drop in overall weight and then in 2018, the bike got slipper clutch and new map switch controls. For 2019, the list is more exhaustive which makes it an all new bike.
To start with, the 2019 model gets new subframe, new cylinder head, new piston and valving for the rear shock absorber. The overall settings of the suspension have been played with to suit the new frame. The carbon fibre rear subframe is 0.22 kg lighter and the rest of the frame is now painted blue. Through the addition of new cylinder head, Husqvarna has managed to reduce the overall weight of the bike by 0.5kg. This 450cc motor is mated with a new five-speed gearbox.
The 2019 model gets launch control and traction control as standard. The bike is shod with Bridgestone 125/80 R420 and 165/65 R420 rubber. Braking power comes from Brembo and involves a 310mm front wave rotor and a 220mm rear one. The rims are 16.5 inch front and 17 inch rear and are from Alpina. This Husqvarna will go on sale in Europe sometime in September.
Unfortunately, this bike won’t come to India as there’s no market for supermoto in the country. But its smaller 410cc siblings, the Svartpilen and Vitpilen will make their way to India next year.
