Husqvarna launched the Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 in India recently. We list out the differences that set the motorcycles apart from each other.
Styling
The Svartpilen 250 sports a rugged design language which consists of a ‘rack’ on the fuel tank, and an exhaust guard. Furthermore, the bike also gets a split-seat setup and offers a upright riding position thanks to the flat handlebar.
On the other hand, the Vitpilen 250 is designed to look like a café racer. It offers an aggressive riding position that comes from the lowered, clip-on handlebars. Moreover, it sports a single piece seat and is offered in a tasteful aluminium-silver finished paint.
Dimensions
The two models are identical to each other in terms of seat height (835mm) and ground clearance (145mm). They also get the same 9.5-litre fuel tank. However, the Svartpilen 250 is a kilogram heavier than the Vitpilen 250 which tips the scales at 154kg.
Engine
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250 share the same underpinnings which have been borrowed from the KTM 250 Duke. The motorcycles come powered by a 248.76cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces 29.5bhp at 9,000rpm and 24Nm at 7,500rpm. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.
Cycle parts
Suspension is the same with both models using 43mm inverted forks up front and a monoshock at the rear sourced from WP. Meanwhile braking is done by 320mm disc for the front and a 230mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS. However, the Svartpilen and Vitpilen differ when it comes to wheels and tyres. While the Svartpilen rides on eight-spoke wheels wrapped in dual-sport rubber, the Vitpilen gets five-spoke wheels and road-biased tyres.
Pricing
Husqvarna has priced both the Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 250 at Rs 1.80 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). While bookings have already begun, deliveries are expected to take place from March 2020.
