- Were spotted benchmark testing in Pune alongside the KTM 390 Duke
- Expected to launch in India in 2020
The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and the Svartpilen 401 have been spotted testing in Pune. The test mules were seen in company of a previous-generation KTM 390 Duke, hinting that the motorcycles were undergoing benchmark testing.
The motorcycles spotted in Pune look identical to the international-spec model. The Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 are based on the 390 Duke’s platform, although they adopt different body styles. While the Svartpilen, or the Black Arrow, has been styled to look like a scrambler, the Vitpilen, or the White Arrow, is a cafe racer. Both are powered by the same 373cc single-pot engine, which churns out 43bhp and 37Nm of torque.
As of now, a slew of KTM models are manufactured at Bajaj’s facility in Chakan. The production line currently has an annual capacity of 1 lakh units, although the capacity will be doubled by 2019 to make room for these Husqvarna bikes. The facility will not only cater to India but also a few international markets. In the UK, the Husqvarna bikes are positioned above the Duke models, and we can expect the same for the Indian market.
