The new Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svarpilen 401 have been spotted in Pune, Maharashtra. Both the motorcycles seemed to be in their production ready form and even sported their brand logos, which is quite unusual for test mules.
The Svartpilen and Vitpilen are Husqvarna’s new street bikes which are based on the new KTM 390 Duke’s platform. Both made their debut at the EICMA Show in Milan, Italy, last year. While the Svartpilen, or the Black Arrow, has been styled to look like a scrambler, the Vitpilen, or the White Arrow, is a modern rendition of a cafe racer. They are powered by the same 373cc single-pot engine as the 390 Duke, which churns out 43bhp and 37Nm of torque. They ride on WP suspension setup while the brake setup has been sourced from ByBre.
While the Svarpilen and Vitpilen test mules seem to be ready to hit the showrooms, these models will enter into production only in 2019. Just like with the small capacity Duke range, the Svartpilen and Vitpilen motorcycles will be built at KTM’s facility in Pune. A new production line will be built at the facility specifically for the Husqvarna range which will not only cater to India but several international markets too. Both these motorcycles will be sold in India alongside the KTM 390 Duke, starting 2020. So why are these test mules roaming around the streets of Pune without any camouflage? Well, it could be an exercise to gauge public reactions for the motorcycles.
