Previously, we brought you the top highlights of the new HusqvarnaSvartpilen 250, which was launched in the Indian market at an introductory price of Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Here we bring you the top five highlights of its café-racer sibling, the Vitpilen 250.
Design
The Vitpilen 250 is designed to be a sporty café-racer, and thus it comes equipped with clip-on handlebars that offer a forward-leaning riding position. The 17-inch cast aluminium wheels on the Vitpilen 250 are wrapped in road-focussed tyres that should offer plenty of grip around the corners. Features such as full-LED lighting add a modern look to the retro-style motorcycle.
Dimensions such as seat height, ground clearance and the fuel tank capacity are identical to the Svartpilen 250. Thus, the saddle is on the Vitpilen 250 is 835mm tall while the ground clearance stands at 145mm. The Vitpilen 250 is a kilogram lighter than the Svartpilen 250, and the café-racer tips the weighing scale at 153kg.
Instrument Cluster
The Vitpilen 250 shares its compact, full-digital instrument cluster with the Svartpilen 250. The round shape of the instrument cluster enhances the retro-looks of the motorcycle while the display shows a plethora of information such as a digital tachometer, speedometer, gear position indicator and fuel gauge among others.
Engine
The 248.76cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, fuel-injected engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox. The motor is tuned to produce 29.5bhp and 24Nm. A slipper clutch system is also part of the package.
Hardware
The steel trellis frame on the Husqvarna 250 range, similar to the KTM 250 Duke, is bolted to the sub-frame. Hardware specifications comprise of 43mm front forks and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock – both sourced from WP. Braking setup comprises of a 320mm disc and a 230mm disc at the front and the back respectively while the safety net includes dual-channel ABS.
Pricing and Availability
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 250 are available at a competitive (introductory) price tag of Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Both models will be sold through KTM dealerships in the country. In the initial phase, the Swedish motorcycles will be available at 100 KTM dealerships across 45 cities. The company will expand the availability of the Husqvarna motorcycles to 400 KTM showrooms across 275 towns over the next five months. The deliveries will start from next month.
