Royal Enfield might launch its first product powered by the new parallel-twin engine by March 2017. Expected to be christened Continental GT 750, this motorcycle will be the most powerful and advanced Royal Enfield model in its line-up.
Previous spy shots of the Continental GT prototype spotted testing in Europe have given a faint idea of what to expect from the motorcycle. Reports suggest that the Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 will have a power output of around 50bhp. Apart from fuel-injection and liquid-cooling, we can expect the motorcycle to come equipped with ABS to meet European norms. It will get conventional telescopic front forks and Paoli dual springs at the rear. The Continental GT 750 will be first among a few other products based on this parallel-twin platform.
While Royal Enfield’s current range has hit the right chord with the Indian audience, the company’s export numbers still are miniscule. With the aim of becoming the global leader among mid-size motorcycles, Royal Enfield has been aggressively expanding its operations and production capacity. However, all these efforts will be in vain unless it has a competitive mid-size product in its line-up. With this new parallel twin platform, Royal Enfield will become a direct rival to other iconic brands like Harley-Davidson and Triumph.
