Royal Enfield recently launched the Interceptor 650 in a new paint scheme as well as the much-awaited alloy wheels, in the UK. The same could likely debut in India very soon. Let’s have a close look at the bike in these detailed images.
With the new blacked-out paint scheme, Royal Enfield has now draped the Interceptor 650 in a new colour of Black Ray. All the body parts are covered in the aforementioned colour with a contrasting theme of golden on the fuel tank and the side panels.
Similar to the Super Meteor 650, the Interceptor also gets an LED headlight flanked by halogen indicators. Apart from that, its single-piece seat with a quilted seat cover and a tubular grab rail at the rear is the same as the standard model.
Powering the Interceptor 650 Blacked Out trim is a 648cc parallel-twin motor with the output rated at 47bhp at 7,150rpm and 52Nm at 5,250rpm. It’s mated to a six-speed gearbox and located in a cradle frame.
One of the most significant updates for the Interceptor 650 launched in the UK is the set of alloy wheels. The current generation model sold in India rides on spoked units which limits the usability in case of a puncture. It’s wrapped in 100/90 front and 130/70 rear tyres.
The telescopic front forks and twin gas-charged rear shocks remain unchanged and so do the front 320mm disc and the rear 240mm disc with dual-channeled ABS.
It features a twin-pod instrument console with various readouts like the speedometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel level readout, and a Tripper Navigation as well.
We expected Royal Enfield to launch the updated version with OBD 2 compliance very soon in India. This means the bike will be equipped with an OBD sensor to monitor real-time emissions.
Currently, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 retails at Rs 3.21 lakh (on-road Chandigarh), and with the addition of the alloy wheels, we expect the asking price to go even higher.
