Royal Enfield has upped its ante in India and global markets by launching its 650cc twins. With the launch of the Interceptor 650, the company has expanded its classic motorcycles portfolio and given an opportunity to current Royal Enfield owners to upgrade. Now that it has finally arrived in India, let’s take a closer look at it.
The Interceptor 650 follows the company’s traditional design pattern with aesthetics which are charmingly old-school and elegant.
Royal Enfield has kept it as retro as possible and the conventional headlamp with no LED lights is an epitome of it.
The handlebar is a single piece, easy-to-reach unit which makes for a comfortable riding posture.
It incorporates a twin-pod instrument cluster with analogue speedometer and tachometer accompanied by digital odometer and fuel gauge.
Similar to the headlamp, even the tail lamp houses a conventional bulb and gets styling that resembles the Bullet.
Adding to the comfort of the Interceptor is a long and flat seat unit that blends seamlessly with the overall styling.
The motorcycle rides on 18-inch front and rear spoke wheels that are shod with Pirelli tyres.
Braking is handled by a 320mm disc at the front and 240mm disc at the rear while ABS comes as a standard fitment.
The Interceptor 650 is powered by a 648cc, parallel-twin, air/oil cooled, fuel-injected motor that churns out 47bhp and 52Nm. The unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
All the gases escape through a twin-exhaust unit that also enhances its road presence.
