- Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 sets new record at the Speed Week run
- Achieves a top speed of 212.514kmph
- Modified by Melbourne-based Mid Life Cycles
We have always loved the 650cc parallel-twin engine of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 for its smooth and torquey nature. While there’s already so much said and written about the bike and its motor, the latest testament of its proficiency is the new record set by the Interceptor at the annual Speed Week run held at Lake Gairdner in Australia. The event saw Mid Life Cycles’ Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 clock a top speed of 212.514kmph and shatter the previous record of 195.05kmph that was set in 2016.
Riding the Melbourne-based Mid Life Cycles’ Interceptor 650 was Charlie Hallam who enrolled in Class M-F 650, for 650cc un-streamlined motorcycles running commercial unleaded fuel. Hallam started by clocking a top speed of 195.98kmph on the first day of the event. After several attempts over the next two days, Hallam managed to register a speed of 212.514kmph on the third day. The Interceptor 650 by Mid Life Cycles rode on close-to-stock 650cc engine and dual cradle frame as the class rules allow for minimal modifications.
Royal Enfield had launched the Interceptor 650 in September 2018 and it has been a successful product for the brand, not only in India but also in the international markets. The motorcycle had won the Indian Motorcycle of the Year award in 2018.
