- Spotted with new windscreen
- Much taller than the flyscreen available now
- 650cc twins to get alloy wheels as well
Royal Enfield is not just working on new 650cc motorcycles, but it’s also focusing on making the existing ones better. A case in point is the Interceptor 650 test mule that was recently spotted on the road incorporating a touring accessory.
While the test mule looked identical to the bike that’s currently on sale, the inclusion of a tall windscreen was new. Although it looked identical to the one we have seen on the Supernova variant of the Meteor 350, the one for the INT will certainly be different in some areas like mounting points and size. And it should be extremely useful considering the commendable speeds that the 650cc mill can do without much stress on the highway and the fatigue that the lack of wind protection induces.
Interestingly, the windscreen will not be the only new accessory to be introduced. Around four months back, Royal Enfield was also spotted testing alloy wheels on the Continental GT 650. Alloy wheels will allow the inclusion of tubeless tyres which are much easier to repair than tubed ones in case of a puncture. It’s worth noting that the soon-to-be-launched Super Meteor 650 gets alloy wheels as standard but the wheel sizes are different than the existing 650cc twins.
The prices of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 start from Rs 2.89 lakh and Rs 3.06 lakh, respectively (both prices are ex-showroom).
