- RoyalEnfield Interceptor 650 becomes the highest sold motorcycle in the UK
- 196 units of the bike were retailed last month
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is one of the highly lauded motorcycles in the Indian market. That’s largely because of its beautiful vintage looks, a smooth 650cc parallel-twin engine and a very enticing price tag. Interestingly, the formula has worked well for the brand not only in India but also in the UK where the Interceptor 650 topped the sales chart in June 2020.
According to the data released by Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA), the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 was the highest sold motorcycle in the UK last month, 196 units of which were retailed in the country. In the overall two-wheeler sales chart, it stood second as the Honda PCX 125 scooter led the ranking. It’s worth noting that the Interceptor outsold the BMWR 1250 GS too which was the top selling bike in the UK last year.
The Interceptor 650 is a modern classic roadster which is powered by a 648cc, parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled engine and churns out 47bhp and 52Nm. It rides on 18-inch spoke wheels which are suspended by telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers while braking is handled by a disc at both ends. The motorcycle maintains its retro theme on the feature front with basic elements such as conventional lighting and a dual-pod semi-digital instrument cluster.
Royal Enfield has priced the Interceptor 650 BS6 from Rs 2.65 lakh to Rs 2.86 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom), depending on the colour variant.
