- Royal Enfield 650 twins get ECU remap from Powertronic
- It bumps up power by 3.2bhp and torque by 3Nm.
- The piggyback ECU is priced at Rs 22,000
Powertronic, a US-based manufacturer has launched a piggy-back ECU for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 in India. The kit which includes the piggyback ECU, connecting cables and a USB cable is priced at Rs 22,000.
The Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 are powered by a 649cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 47bhp and 52Nm in stock form. Powertronic claims that the piggyback ECU increases the power of the motor by 2.4bhp-3.2bhp (depending on the selected map) and torque output by 1.4Nm-3Nm. It also pushes the rev limit to 12,000rpm. Furthermore, the Powertronic ECU is also said to improve throttle response and minimize vibrations from the engine.
The kit comes with a 1-year replacement warranty and a 15-day return policy. Nevertheless, prospective customers should note that since the piggyback ECU is an aftermarket accessory, it could void the motorcycle’s warranty. Powertronic is also offering a handlebar switch that can be used to shift between maps for an additional price of Rs 1,300. Currently, only 98 units of the Powertronic ECU are available for sale on the company’s official website.
