- Likely to be an off-road-focused motorcycle
- Likely to use a 648cc, parallel-twin engine
- Could be unveiled in July-September 2023
An online patent document has revealed a new name that will come under the Royal Enfield brand. This document shows the 'Interceptor Bear 650' name tag which suggests that it could be a variation of the existing middleweight motorcycle.
The 'Bear' name tag hints at the possibility of this bike being an off-road version of the Interceptor 650. Notably, the Sherpa, too, is expected to be an off-road-focussed iteration of the Interceptor 650. However, the trademark documents for the Sherpa did not have the Interceptor branding. Thus, 'Bear', the new variant of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, could be a special edition model that may feature a special paint theme and additional accessories.
Meanwhile, the mechanical specifications will most likely retain the same 648cc parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled motor. The numbers, too, could be similar to the standard model that delivers 47bhp and 52Nm. The launch details for this new Interceptor 650 variant are not available. However, we may see it around the high-demand festive season, and thus we expect to hear a launch announcement in the current calendar year's third quarter (July-September).
