- Interceptor, Continental GT recalled
- Issue over brake caliper corrosion
Royal Enfield has issued a recalled notice in USA. This recall affects its flagship 650cc bikes – the Interceptor and the Continental GT.
According to the company, the brake calipers could malfunction due to corrosion. The salt from the road could corrode the brake calipers. This could result in rusting on the calipers and that would keep the piston from retracting properly. This could lead to premature wear of the brake pads as it could remain in contact with the wheel. There’s a high chance of a reduction of motorcycle’s stopping power and this might result into a crash.
Currently, there are no details on the number of units affected. But we know that the INT and Continental GT manufactured between 2018 and 2020 are a part of this recall. The company would notify its affected customers via its dealerships, but as of now, the remedy is still under development.
