- Royal Enfield working on new motorcycles
- Could include a 650cc scrambler
Royal Enfield is working on a few all-new motorcycles as part of its long-term plan. Apart from the three motorcycles that are likely to be launched this year or early 2021, we also expect Royal Enfield to launch a new motorcycle in the 650 range; a 650cc scrambler.
The scrambler motorcycle trend has caught up in recent times with many different manufacturers taking that path. Besides that, we think that a 650cc scrambler from Royal Enfield makes sense because of two reasons. Firstly, the current 650 line-up has a street bike (Interceptor 650) and a cafe racer (Continental GT 650). Also, these motorcycles haven’t received any major updates apart from a BS6-compliant engine since their launch in 2018.
While a new version with modern equipment like alloy wheels with tubeless tyres and LED lighting is a possibility, a completely new model like a scrambler will surely bring a fresher appeal to Royal Enfield’s portfolio. Secondly, considering how the manufacturer has priced its current 650cc line-up, we can expect the new 650cc model to be more affordable and accessible than its competition.
