- Royal Enfield Scram trademark filed
- A new 650cc scrambler could be in pipeline
As soon as the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic settles down a bit, Royal Enfield is likely to go on an aggressive launch spree of new motorcycles. An indication of this is the frequent trademarks filed by RE for the name of its upcoming motorcycles in the last few months. Recently, a new trademark has joined this list that’s filed for the name ‘Scram’.
The name Scram is clearly short for Scrambler, but it’s not yet confirmed which series of Royal Enfield models it will join. The chances of it being a 650cc bike is more and we had speculated the same in May last year. The existing 650cc twins haven’t received any major change since their debut in 2018, not even during the BS6 transition. Instead of updating the existing bikes, RE might go ahead with expanding this line-up with different models.
Notably, a 650cc cruiser has already been spotted testing multiple times. With a scrambler and a cruiser joining the Interceptor 650 roadster and the Continental GT 650 café racer, Royal Enfield will have an attractive portfolio of middle-weight offerings. On the other hand, there are chances that RE might opt to do this with its 350cc line-up and expand it further with a scrambler. The next-gen Classic 350 and the Hunter 350 are already in pipeline.
Royal Enfield filed the trademark for the name Scram just last week. Even if the aforementioned speculations turn out to be true, we won’t see the production model sooner than last year.
