- Interceptor 650, Continental GT India launch tomorrow
- Expected to be priced between Rs 3 lakhs and Rs 3.5 lakhs
Royal Enfield will finally launch its most awaited bikes, the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT in India tomorrow. These bikes have already been launched in United States and Europe.
First unveiled at the 2017 EICMA Show, these bikes have been developed to cater to the growing demand of modern-retro bikes not just in India but also worldwide. The Royal Enfield twins have been further developed to help the company go global and gain additional market share. Both the bikes have been built from ground-up and has been designed and developed at its UK technical centre.
The Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 are powered by a parallel-twin motor with a 270-degree firing order. This 648cc air-cooled fuel-injected motor produces 47bhp at 7100rpm and 52Nm of torque at 4000rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The braking duties for both the bikes are taken care of by single disc in the front and single disc at the rear. ABS is standard. Suspension duties are handled by the telescopic forks upfront and gas-charged twin shock absorbers at the rear. The Interceptor 650 gets a fuel tank capacity of 13.7 litres while its cafe racer version gets a smaller tank at 12.5 litres.
These bikes will have no direct rival, but with an expected price tag of between Rs 3 lakhs and Rs 3.5 lakhs, these bikes will go against the KTM 390 Duke and Kawasaki Ninja 300.
