- Elon Musk says no to electric bikes
- Says they are unsafe
Tesla, the company that changed the electric vehicle scene across the globe doesn’t plan to get into the growing e-bike business.
This news was confirmed by Tesla boss, Elon Musk, at the firm’s 2018 shareholder meeting. One of the audience member asked if Tesla ever thought of about going into the motorcycle business.
“I actually used to ride motorcycles when I was kid, dirt-biking for like eight years or something. Then I had a road bike until I was 17, and was almost killed by a truck. So we’re not going to do motorcycles," replied Elon Musk.
It’s clear that Musk was talking about the safety aspect of motorcycles. Two-wheelers are more prone to accidents as compared to four-wheels due to lack of physical structure around the rider and the bike.
It would have been super interesting to see Tesla made e-bikes, considering the fact that it will look cool and will have a good charging support, especially in the developed markets.
