Yamaha India has silently launched a new version of the Ray scooter at Rs 48,605 (ex-showroom Delhi). Called the Cygnus Ray Precious Edition, the scooter gets few cosmetic changes mostly in a bid to make it more appealing to women riders. The scooter gets pink colour scheme over the black paint of the scooter.
The company had launched this scooter last year to target the female riders. However, adding up one more edition with just a cosmetic change clearly indicates an attempt to clear stocks and add more sales numbers. The scooter’s sale is likely to have slowed down as the Japanese manufacturer had to recall 56,082 units of the Ray due to handle bar issue.
The Yamaha Ray is powered by an 113cc single cylinder air-cooled engine that churns out 7.1PS at 7500 rpm and 8.1Nm at 5000 rpm. It carries 5 litres of petrol in its fuel tank that allows it to do 265kms in a stretch delivering a claimed fuel efficiency of 53kmpl.
