Yamaha India has recalled 56,092 Ray scooters due to handle bar problem. The company has found the handle bar to have insufficient strength due to inadequate welding that may in worst case scenario have an impact on the steering operation.
The affected Ray scooters have been produced from September 2012. The issue was found during company’s field studies and the voluntary recall exercise will start from today through the Ray Refresh campaign which will be run through the company’s dealership networks across the country. The customers will be contacted through mail as well as phone calls to replace the part free of cost. Yamaha had recently launched the Ray Z that has not been affected by this recall.
"The company has taken this voluntary step after it detected insufficient strength in the handlebar of some scooters due to inadequate welding. The recall campaign on 56,082 units of Ray would cover the handlebar fitted in the scooters that may in the worst case scenario have an impact on the steering operation," said India Yamaha Motor.
