Yamaha has registered a 12 per cent jump in sales for November, this year, as compared to the corresponding period in 2013. The company sold 44,678 units in the domestic market in the last month, helping it cement its position as the fifth largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India.
Yamaha recently launched the SZ-RR Version 2.0 150cc commuter motorcycle in the Indian market. Armed with a new Blue Core engine, tubeless tyres and other cosmetic upgrades, the SZ-RR Version 2.0 has helped the company maintain a consistent growth. And while the Japanese manufacturer doesn’t give a breakdown of its sales numbers, its wide range of scooters have also helped herald this growth.
Speaking about the sales numbers, Mr. Roy Kurian, VP, sales and marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd said, “This has indeed been a year of recovery for the auto sector. We are pleased with the sales growth that we’ve witnessed in the past month on account of our strong product portfolio. The incessant growth numbers are a sign of Yamaha’s robust business plan and strategic customer engagement programs.”
While the sale of scooters is slowly catching up in rural areas, Yamaha recently revealed that the urban markets like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore still are the company’s chief target audience. Yamaha currently has over 1,400 touch points including dealers, branches and Yamaha Bike Corner and plans to add 600 more of these over the course of two years.
