Yamaha may launch a 125cc version of its Ray scooter this year. The scooter is expected to have similar styling as the current vehicle and will get a re-bored version of the 113cc engine. Reports suggest that dealers are already training their staff for the new bike and that means the Japanese automaker will soon start displaying publicity material for the 125cc Ray.
It is expected to have a similar feature list as compared to the 113cc Ray and Ray-Z but will get some segment standards like mobile phone charger, under seat light and obviously a front disc brake. The arrival of the Ray 125 means that there will also be a 125cc version of the Ray-Z a few months later.
When launched, the Ray 125 will compete with the recently unveiled Activa 125 and the Vespa VX125, Suzuki Access and the TVS Jupiter. The 125cc scooter segment is now the latest place to be for a majority of manufacturers as it is a midway point for economy and sportiness.
