Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. sold 6,51,487 two-wheelers in 2013. This shows a growth of 34 per cent in sales figures in comparison to the 4,86,810 units that they sold in 2012. Out of these, 1,89,673 units were exported in contrast to the 1,38,464 units sold in 2012, hence, showing a hike of 37 per cent on that front.
Overall domestic sales for 2013 eventually show an increase of 32.6 per cent in business with the company selling 4,61,814 two-wheelers as against 3,48,346 units in the previous year. For December 2013 alone, the company sold 64,997 units as opposed to the 47,483 units sold in the corresponding period in 2012, displaying a growth of 37 per cent again. Domestic sales for last month stood at 39,777 units in contrast to 25,123 vehicles sold in December 2012, thus, registering a growth of 58 per cent. An increase of 13 per cent in the number of vehicles sold to other countries is seen with the manufacturer exporting 25,220 two-wheelers, 2,860 more than what were sold in December 2012.

Yamaha’s strategy of focusing on the scooter market in India seems to have worked successfully with the Yamaha Ray and Ray-Z helping the manufacturer to boost the overall sales.
