OLA S1 [2021-2023] Summary

Ola has launched its new scooter, the S1 in the Indian market. It will come in two variants, Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro.

Both variants of the Ola S1 feature a similar design that comprises a compact twin-pod headlight with an LED DRL ring, apron-mounted sleek LED indicators, a body-coloured front fender, curvy side panels, a sleek LED taillight, an external charging point at the back, and a split-style pillion grabrail. It features a 36-litre under-seat storage that can accommodate two open-face helmets. The colour palette for the base model includes five options while the Pro variant is available in 10 choices.

Mechanical specifications on both scooters include an electric motor that produces a peak output of 8.5kW and maximum torque of 58Nm. The battery capacity for the base variant and the Pro model stands at 2.98kW and 3.97kW, respectively. In terms of performance, the Ola S1 boasts a top speed of 90kmph and a range of 121km per charge. The Ola S1 Pro, on the other hand, can achieve a top speed of 115kmph and features a range of 181km per charge.

Standard features on both models include proximity lock/unlock, remote boot lock, call alert, message alert, infotainment, side-stand alert, anti-theft alert, geo fencing, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, onboard navigation, limp home mode, reverse mode, get home mode, take-me-home lights, find my scooter, HMI moods with sound, electronic steering lock, HMI brightness adjuster, welcome screen, OTA updates, manual SOS, and predictive maintenance. The Pro variant further benefits from hill hold system, cruise control, and voice assist. The Ola S1 version uses two riding modes (Normal and Sport) while the Ola S1 Pro variant packs three (Normal, Sport, and Hyper).

The hardware on both variants comprise a tubular frame, single front fork, rear mono-shock, disc brakes on both wheels, and a combined braking system.

Ola recently updated the S1 and it’s now available in two battery options: 2kWh and a 3kWh battery. While both models are powered by the same 5.5kW motor, they’ll now differ in terms of the range. The 2kWh battery offers a 91km range and the 3kWh unit can do 141km (ARAI). Apart from that, the two models get the same features and hardware as mentioned below.

OLA S1 [2021-2023] Review

  • Good Things

    • Looks quite distinct
    • Gets two battery options
    • Equipped with lots of features
  • Could be Better

    • Priced quite high
    • Doesn’t have normal scooter proportions

BikeWale's Take

The Ola S1 is probably the most hyped scooter of 2021. It is loaded with lots of features, gets cool design and comes with multiple motor and battery options. But the pricing is a bit high, considering the fact that the scooter doesn’t have the petrol-scooter body proportions.

      OLA worst service

      Anshu

Very poor service for 20 days my scooter is at home and shows a system issue but the service team as well as the sales team is not responding. I got the problem from day 1 but was unable to resolve it. The Ola Electric app is also not working and not showing my scooter. Very bad experience after purchasing this scooter.

worse with the Ola team as well as with Ola S1 Pro performance

      Swadesh Prakash

I have purchased the OLA S1 Pro Gen 2 in Gurugram. It is one of the costliest EV 2-wheelers in India as of now.
      1. First of all the delivery experience is the worst, it took more than one month for delivery. The Ola team asked me to pick up this vehicle from Mahipalpur, Store which is in Delhi. When I received the bike, it didn't start. The brand-new vehicle was not functional during delivery. I waited for the next one week and then they asked me to collect the vehicle from the nearest hub in Gurugram this time.
This time the bike was functional but it was very poorly handled and multiple scratches were there.
      2. They have charged for the helmet but they refused to give the helmet along with the vehicle. Even though they provided the bill for the Helmet (costing INR 691.) but didn't provide any helmet to me.
      3. The very next day when I charged the vehicle 100% and ran it in Normal mode with 70kg rider weight in city + highway, it ran only 62 km in normal mode and a further 10km in eco mode (with very limited) and the battery was fully discharged to 0%, while they claim 142 km range in Normal mode. And once it is discharged its handle will be locked and the display will be off, and as it is keyless you can't do anything.
      4. Most funniest thing is they charged INR 2887 customer handling charges as well for my worst vehicle delivery experience. For anything you request, they will answer, we don't have staff; even to clean your vehicle during delivery.
The overall experience is worse with the Ola team as well as with Ola S1 Pro performance. You are going to waste your INR 162634 if you are going to buy it.

Don't buy ola scooter after sale services is too bad

      Akshay

The customer care services at ola are too bad.
They did not connect the call to customer care for 2/3 hours when we try to contact them
I req everyone to buy ola scoter because there is no service center at all.
After buying the scoter the customer care or services is too badly
      This is so badly experienced.

Good ride. Not reliable . All false claim for mileage by the company

Good ride. Not reliable. All false claims for mileage by the company
      Pickup is good
Parts, fit, and finish are not good quality.
Looks like ola was made from somewhere else and pasted a branding on it.
      No service guarantee
Stay away from this cant survive even 5 years
All cons. You can save fuel prices for 2 years if you manage well this ola you can continue maximum of 5 years without bigger investment.

      Manoj Kumar Singh

It's a very good experience for me. It rides very smoothly and pick-up is very fast. It looks great and the performance is very high. Service facility on home provided.Ola scooter has great features like disc brake, digital meter, charger point, stylish look etc. In a single charge it covers 120 km- 130 km, but the price little bit high.

This is truly a amazing bike

      Rizul

I really wish to have this ev scooter. The features it has are amazing and really ant to see how this stands out on road especially with its running cost.
The color variants are also cool, the bike design is also classic this making it a elite bike in the ev segment and ola has done a great job.
Just hope to have this bike soon in agra and can't wait to ride it.
