  • The best bike you can buy in 1.5 lakh

    I was researching for a bike which was going to replace my pulsar 150 (2005 model with analog speedo and spoke wheels). I was looking for an upgrade from 150 cc segment.

    After extensive research of more than 2 months and riding almost all models of all brands available in pune (upto 220 cc), i shortlisted avenger 220 cruise, pulsar 220f. Hero karizma was dropped from the list just because of that odd looking fearing.

    Avenger cruise was my first choice, however ruled out due to short seat height. My height is 5'10" for reference.

    Pulsar 220 f was class apart, but liked the powerful engine, projector headlamps and overall value for money features. Finally i decided to book a pulsar 220 f.

    The day before i was going to book pulsar, a thought of taking test ride of re bike sparked in my mind. I was looking bikes under 220 cc so this thought never touched me so far. But i thought there is nothing wrong in taking a test ride.

    Next day i went to re showroom and asked for test ride of a basic entry level bike ( i didn’t want to stretch already tight budget), the sales guy offered me test ride of a bullet 350 std variant. What an experience it was!!! i was totally impressed. I realized, once you ride a bullet, you would simply ignore tech-specs and feature packed yet cheaper bikes, you can not compare the experience of riding a bullet with other mid segment bikes :)

    I done my homework on all re bikes and decided to buy an bullet 350 es. Booked bike at brahma motors, wakadewadi, pune on july 25th 2017. There was no waiting period and i was told that i can take delivery in next 2-3 days if i wish. I decided to get delivery on 14th august as it was an auspicious day and informed the dealer.

    I reached the dealership on d-day at 12 pm and after few paperwork and a small ceremony, i was ready to hit the start button! i got only 2 liter of petrol while taking delivery, so went straight to nearby petrol pump and filled the tank up to brims.

    Riding experience:

    To cut the story short, i would only mention points i noted during my short ownership of 45 days and 2000 ticks on odometer.

    Engine was very noisy and warming up quickly before first service at 500 kms. But gradually it became quieter and now only a sweet exhaust note is audible after 1500 kms on odo. Although, does not sound like original ci engine bullets, thanks to updated silencer and engine tuned for bs-iv norms. Little vibrations are still there when you ride in 3rd and 4th gear but vanishes once you cross 50 km/h mark in 5th gear. Gear shift became smoother, however found some false neutrals while shifting from first gear to second and vice-versa.

    Riding posture is very comfortable. It glide over small and medium size potholes, thanks to 19" rims at both ends. Shocks are well designed to take care of your back bone. However, tyres slips on muddy surfaces quite frequently and need to upgrade to wider one. Thinking of changing rear tyre. Brakes perform their duties quit well. Clutch feel a bit hard and tiresome in stop and go traffic. Hope it will also smoothen out gradually. Bike feels very stable on highways. In ghat sections, it really fun to ride as the torque come into play.

    Seats are better cushioned than classic 350. Also, es is marginally taller than classic 350. Taller riders, considering classic must have a test ride on bullet es. It give feel of riding something bigger.

    Looks and performance:

    It is a looker in true sense. It will never let you down in this department. It have right amount of chrome a retro looking bike should have. Front and rear mudguards, handlebar, headlamp case and horn cover also get chrome. Just clean it regularly and it will shine as if you have just brought it from the showroom.

    as of now i am getting mileage of 40 to 43 km/l, which i think not bad for a 350 cc and 187 kg heavy bike.

    I am a sedate rider and not yet pushed it to its limits, hence cant comment on top speed. It may feel sluggish on traffic signals, but when you choose a bullet, you don’t want to participate in road rash. Rather it is not meant for road races. I personally prefer riding it between 45 to 60 km/h.

    Servicing and maintenance:

    After reading too much negative reviews about re ascs, i was wondering about my first service. But to my surprise, i found nothing to complain about at brahma motors service center at wakadewadi, pune. Everything is done precisely well. First service includes oil and oil filter change, so it costs me rs. 1100. Engine oil change is scheduled every alternate service intervals. I.E. Every 6000. Second service which is scheduled at 3000 kms will cost only rs. 300-400 as per the service guy.

    i have made daily habit of:

    1.Idling bike for 3-4 minutes in the morning before i ride.

    2.Inspect clutch and accelerator cables, brakes, lights, engine oil etc.

    3. Inspect tyres for wear and tear. Clear tyre threads from gravels.

    It is good idea to give water-wash and lubricating the bike every 500 kms. Use only chain lubes to lubricate the chain, as oils attract a lot of dust.

    Finally some pros and cons you may consider while buying the bullet:

    Pros:

    1.Powerful, torqy yet fuel efficient engine.

    2.Retro look, people still recognize it as bullet.

    3.Build quality.

    4.Riding comfort – you can literally ride all the day on it without feeling tired.

    5.Pride of owning a legacy.

    6.Good resale value.

    Cons:

    1.No safety features like abs on a bike cost you more that 1.5 lakh.

    2.Skinny tyre at rear, does not match to its heavy build.

    3.Single horn does not sound well, again does not match to its character, need upgrade.

    4.Auto head lamp on feature make engine kill switch useless at red signals.

    5.If you get used to riding this bike, you will just not feel comfortable riding other 150/220 cc bikes

    Ride safe, always wear helmet, follow traffic rule, happy riding

    1.) starting with the buying experience : i bought my bike from royal enfield showroom pathparganj , delhi , the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable , it was a smooth delivering process .2). Riding experience : riding this bike is a wonderful experience and the reason is its seating posture as i switched to re from my yamaha r15 , smooth power delivery and that dug dug sound makes it a amazing machine but don't expect the engine to respond like a sport bike like my r15 as this is a cruiser bike with full metal body , the only problem with the bike is when you go beyond 80kmph as this is the point when one can feel the vibrations on every part of the bike and the stiffer(hard) seat of re makes long rides very uncomfortable , so if you plan to do long rides than don't forget to buy a air seat and also the air cooled engine heats a lot during long rides in summers but its a 350cc air cooled engine so i can't complain about it. The tube tyres will always haunt you during long rides especially when you ride solo. But trust me this bike is not going to put you in any trouble throughout your rides as i didn't feel a single problem with the engine or power delivery during my whole leh ride, just save your tyres from getting punctured.3). Talking about the looks which everybody knows that re is famous for its vintage looks so don't expect a single led in the bike , same old analog speedometer with just a fuel indicator which will only blink when your bike is going to be in reserve, the only change which made re is its self-start. Till date my bike is doing great even though i have done my leh-ladakh trip on my bike last year .I have done almost 16000km on bike but i haven't faced a single problem with the engine till today and this what makes re most trusted brand and machine , one can blindly blindly trust on re .4). The best part about re is its service reach , you can easily get your service done from any local mechanic if you want after your free services , and you can also find the authorized service center for re everywhere , i got my bike serviced in the leh too so now you can imagine re service reach and all its parts are easily available everywhere. Being a rough and tough bike the maintenance of the bike is very low and even the three free services is not going to affect your pocket much as all the three services were under 1500 rs.The chain of the bike needs a little attention as it is open so can easily clean and lube it at regular interval of 15-20 days and your bike will keep going.(i am using motul chain cleaner and lube which is doing its job very well).5). Starting with pros : 1. Easy to maintain 2. One of the best cruiser in the market(in this budget range) 3. Cheap bike parts. 4. Rough and tough bike 5.Comfortable seating posture Cons : 1. Stiffer seats(hard) 2. Engine heating issue during long rides. 3. Weight is on heavier side 4. No fuel level indicator. 5. Tube tyre.

    I'm owning this bike for more than 4 years , in my experience i would like to say that , be service regular period or else it's give more compliant to your bike, quality of the spare parts is very poor , everything get compliant soon.. but it's okay. I had good experiences with royal Enfield bullet 350.

  • Bullet electra 350 my dreams to reality..

    I bought royal enfield bullet electra 350 in 2016 july and runs total of 35000kms till this time. Very good bike doesn't face any complaint on it ,still running fine. I have been using this bike for short and long rides and gives a mileage of 46kmpl in long rides, and 40-41 kmpl in normal rides. Little disappointed part when owning a royal enfield is on its service and cost of maintenance. I am not satisfied in re authorized service center servicing . Do to this I am giving my vehicle to local mechanic nearby my home who works royal enfield works neat and clean.

    My stock tyre lasts for 30000kms and is replaced by Ceat 3.25 -19 front tyre and 3.50 - 19 rear tyre. About chain and sprocket, still stock one is using now completed 34500 kms.

    3. Look are fabulous
    4. Servicing and maintenance is so poor.
    5.Bullet has a lot of missing problem and petrol tank inside air pressure problem and due to which petrol gets into the canister and the petrol tank gets damaged. Due to which we have to bear heavy losses.

    1.First of all , I would share my buying experience of this bike.Thinking of it ,the first word that comes to my mouth is "awesome". That's because ,when,the first time i saw this bike in showroom,i got attracted by its look,and also i got affordable price from dealer for this bike,with good warranty services.And also aftersale services were too impressive.
    2.The first time ,i got a ride on this bike with my brother ,we had gone along 50 kms that day,the ride experience of this is too good.I had bought this bike nearly 5 years ago ,but now also ,it looks like new.Now,i used to go on daily evening ride of about 20 kms to my nearest city park,with my friends.This bike has an amazing ride experience for me.Once what happened,i had gone to goa for a leisure trip.My colleagues challenged me to have this trip by bike ,after much arguments,i confessed.I was in too fear ,since goa trip via bike looks like impossible.But next day morning ,we started the journey to goa,and reached destination after 10 days ,you won't believe,i did this whole trip only by this bike .And hence ,it would be best memorable moment in my whole life.

    4.Seeing on its maintainence,gives a trendy and affordable management.Little bit.Its engine looks complex,but the durability of its engine is very good.Only once i changed the silencer last year.Its servicing and maintenance is not too expensive. I do this bike servicing once every 4-5 years.The cost effective only is is the petrol consumption of this bike , however ,as per my daily ride , consumption of petrol is a bit more than usual.At all its services and maintenance is affordable.
    5.Pros:-riding posture with
    Broad wide rear tyres
    Too good styling and
    Ability to cruise at high speeds (90-100 kms/hr) for longer durations.
    Navigation trip meter is also too good.
    Console lighting is too brighter that it can be seen clearly from 50 metres away .
    Riders seat is very comfortable.
    Vast service network
    Rear tail light set up
    Low seating are some other pros.
    Cons:- beside all good performances,there are some cons also,that are shaky mirrors,also the problem is of
    Vibrations.
    Also its electrical wiring and wire conduits are loosely attached.Master cylinder is exposed.Plastic built petrol cap key-lid, should be of metal.The need to dismantle the seats and petrol tank to access the engine for general servicing are some negative impacts of it.But at all,as per my experience,i would definitely recommend that this bike is too good.

    Firstly spray your bullet chain every 200 km chain lube is necessary change oil 3000/3500 km it not necessary but its good use always tubeless speed tyre don't use pataka silencer.

    One day i had ridden my friend's bike ... Extremely very good suspension system don't have any vibration and smooth experience .. Specifically the v type 4 stroke engine inspired me..And specifically i feel proud to ride the history...Then the powerful sound i heard at feel positive vibration in my heart.

    I have been riding the classic 350 for the last one year. And the main reason that makes me buy this classic is the looks. I really really like the looks. But when i owned it i find it quiet heavy than i thought. Since its classic there is no fuel level indicator,so this create little bits of problem for me. And what i dislike the most about this bike is the requirement of cleaning and greasing the chain at regular intervals.

The tube tyres will always haunt you during long rides especially when you ride solo. But trust me this bike is not going to put you in any trouble throughout your rides as i didn't feel a single problem with the engine or power delivery during my whole leh ride, just save your tyres from getting punctured.3). Talking about the looks which everybody knows that re is famous for its vintage looks so don't expect a single led in the bike , same old analog speedometer with just a fuel indicator which will only blink when your bike is going to be in reserve, the only change which made re is its self-start. Till date my bike is doing great even though i have done my leh-ladakh trip on my bike last year .I have done almost 16000km on bike but i haven't faced a single problem with the engine till today and this what makes re most trusted brand and machine , one can blindly blindly trust on re .4). The best part about re is its service reach , you can easily get your service done from any local mechanic if you want after your free services , and you can also find the authorized service center for re everywhere , i got my bike serviced in the leh too so now you can imagine re service reach and all its parts are easily available everywhere. Being a rough and tough bike the maintenance of the bike is very low and even the three free services is not going to affect your pocket much as all the three services were under 1500 rs.The chain of the bike needs a little attention as it is open so can easily clean and lube it at regular interval of 15-20 days and your bike will keep going.(i am using motul chain cleaner and lube which is doing its job very well).5). Starting with pros : 1. Easy to maintain 2. One of the best cruiser in the market(in this budget range) 3. Cheap bike parts. 4. Rough and tough bike 5.Comfortable seating posture Cons : 1. Stiffer seats(hard) 2. Engine heating issue during long rides. 3. Weight is on heavier side 4. No fuel level indicator. 5. Tube tyre.

    I'm owning this bike for more than 4 years , in my experience i would like to say that , be service regular period or else it's give more compliant to your bike, quality of the spare parts is very poor , everything get compliant soon.. but it's okay.     I bought royal enfield bullet electra 350 in 2016 july and runs total of 35000kms till this time. Very good bike doesn't face any complaint on it ,still running fine. I have been using this bike for short and long rides and gives a mileage of 46kmpl in long rides, and 40-41 kmpl in normal rides. Little disappointed part when owning a royal enfield is on its service and cost of maintenance. I am not satisfied in re authorized service center servicing . Do to this I am giving my vehicle to local mechanic nearby my home who works royal enfield works neat and clean.

    5.Bullet has a lot of missing problem and petrol tank inside air pressure problem and due to which petrol gets into the canister and the petrol tank gets damaged. Due to which we have to bear heavy losses.

    1.First of all , I would share my buying experience of this bike.Thinking of it ,the first word that comes to my mouth is "awesome". That's because ,when,the first time i saw this bike in showroom,i got attracted by its look,and also i got affordable price from dealer for this bike,with good warranty services.And also aftersale services were too impressive.
    2.The first time ,i got a ride on this bike with my brother ,we had gone along 50 kms that day,the ride experience of this is too good.I had bought this bike nearly 5 years ago ,but now also ,it looks like new.Now,i used to go on daily evening ride of about 20 kms to my nearest city park,with my friends.This bike has an amazing ride experience for me.Once what happened,i had gone to goa for a leisure trip.My colleagues challenged me to have this trip by bike ,after much arguments,i confessed.I was in too fear ,since goa trip via bike looks like impossible.But next day morning ,we started the journey to goa,and reached destination after 10 days ,you won't believe,i did this whole trip only by this bike .And hence ,it would be best memorable moment in my whole life.

    4.Seeing on its maintainence,gives a trendy and affordable management.Little bit.Its engine looks complex,but the durability of its engine is very good.Only once i changed the silencer last year.Its servicing and maintenance is not too expensive. I do this bike servicing once every 4-5 years.The cost effective only is is the petrol consumption of this bike , however ,as per my daily ride , consumption of petrol is a bit more than usual.At all its services and maintenance is affordable.
    5.Pros:-riding posture with
    Broad wide rear tyres
    Too good styling and
    Ability to cruise at high speeds (90-100 kms/hr) for longer durations.
    Navigation trip meter is also too good.
    Console lighting is too brighter that it can be seen clearly from 50 metres away .
    Riders seat is very comfortable.
    Vast service network
    Rear tail light set up
    Low seating are some other pros.
    Cons:- beside all good performances,there are some cons also,that are shaky mirrors,also the problem is of
    Vibrations.
    Also its electrical wiring and wire conduits are loosely attached.Master cylinder is exposed.Plastic built petrol cap key-lid, should be of metal.The need to dismantle the seats and petrol tank to access the engine for general servicing are some negative impacts of it.But at all,as per my experience,i would definitely recommend that this bike is too good.

    Firstly spray your bullet chain every 200 km chain lube is necessary change oil 3000/3500 km it not necessary but its good use always tubeless speed tyre don't use pataka silencer.

    I have been riding the classic 350 for the last one year. And the main reason that makes me buy this classic is the looks. I really really like the looks. But when i owned it i find it quiet heavy than i thought. Since its classic there is no fuel level indicator,so this create little bits of problem for me. And what i dislike the most about this bike is the requirement of cleaning and greasing the chain at regular intervals.

  • The best bike you can buy in 1.5 lakh

    I was researching for a bike which was going to replace my pulsar 150 (2005 model with analog speedo and spoke wheels). I was looking for an upgrade from 150 cc segment.

    After extensive research of more than 2 months and riding almost all models of all brands available in pune (upto 220 cc), i shortlisted avenger 220 cruise, pulsar 220f. Hero karizma was dropped from the list just because of that odd looking fearing.

    Avenger cruise was my first choice, however ruled out due to short seat height. My height is 5'10" for reference.

    Pulsar 220 f was class apart, but liked the powerful engine, projector headlamps and overall value for money features. Finally i decided to book a pulsar 220 f.

    The day before i was going to book pulsar, a thought of taking test ride of re bike sparked in my mind. I was looking bikes under 220 cc so this thought never touched me so far. But i thought there is nothing wrong in taking a test ride.

    Next day i went to re showroom and asked for test ride of a basic entry level bike ( i didn’t want to stretch already tight budget), the sales guy offered me test ride of a bullet 350 std variant. What an experience it was!!! i was totally impressed. I realized, once you ride a bullet, you would simply ignore tech-specs and feature packed yet cheaper bikes, you can not compare the experience of riding a bullet with other mid segment bikes :)

    I done my homework on all re bikes and decided to buy an bullet 350 es. Booked bike at brahma motors, wakadewadi, pune on july 25th 2017. There was no waiting period and i was told that i can take delivery in next 2-3 days if i wish. I decided to get delivery on 14th august as it was an auspicious day and informed the dealer.

    I reached the dealership on d-day at 12 pm and after few paperwork and a small ceremony, i was ready to hit the start button! i got only 2 liter of petrol while taking delivery, so went straight to nearby petrol pump and filled the tank up to brims.

    Riding experience:

    To cut the story short, i would only mention points i noted during my short ownership of 45 days and 2000 ticks on odometer.

    Engine was very noisy and warming up quickly before first service at 500 kms. But gradually it became quieter and now only a sweet exhaust note is audible after 1500 kms on odo. Although, does not sound like original ci engine bullets, thanks to updated silencer and engine tuned for bs-iv norms. Little vibrations are still there when you ride in 3rd and 4th gear but vanishes once you cross 50 km/h mark in 5th gear. Gear shift became smoother, however found some false neutrals while shifting from first gear to second and vice-versa.

    Riding posture is very comfortable. It glide over small and medium size potholes, thanks to 19" rims at both ends. Shocks are well designed to take care of your back bone. However, tyres slips on muddy surfaces quite frequently and need to upgrade to wider one. Thinking of changing rear tyre. Brakes perform their duties quit well. Clutch feel a bit hard and tiresome in stop and go traffic. Hope it will also smoothen out gradually. Bike feels very stable on highways. In ghat sections, it really fun to ride as the torque come into play.

    Seats are better cushioned than classic 350. Also, es is marginally taller than classic 350. Taller riders, considering classic must have a test ride on bullet es. It give feel of riding something bigger.

    Looks and performance:

    It is a looker in true sense. It will never let you down in this department. It have right amount of chrome a retro looking bike should have. Front and rear mudguards, handlebar, headlamp case and horn cover also get chrome. Just clean it regularly and it will shine as if you have just brought it from the showroom.

    as of now i am getting mileage of 40 to 43 km/l, which i think not bad for a 350 cc and 187 kg heavy bike.

    I am a sedate rider and not yet pushed it to its limits, hence cant comment on top speed. It may feel sluggish on traffic signals, but when you choose a bullet, you don’t want to participate in road rash. Rather it is not meant for road races. I personally prefer riding it between 45 to 60 km/h.

    Servicing and maintenance:

    After reading too much negative reviews about re ascs, i was wondering about my first service. But to my surprise, i found nothing to complain about at brahma motors service center at wakadewadi, pune. Everything is done precisely well. First service includes oil and oil filter change, so it costs me rs. 1100. Engine oil change is scheduled every alternate service intervals. I.E. Every 6000. Second service which is scheduled at 3000 kms will cost only rs. 300-400 as per the service guy.

    i have made daily habit of:

    1.Idling bike for 3-4 minutes in the morning before i ride.

    2.Inspect clutch and accelerator cables, brakes, lights, engine oil etc.

    3. Inspect tyres for wear and tear. Clear tyre threads from gravels.

    It is good idea to give water-wash and lubricating the bike every 500 kms. Use only chain lubes to lubricate the chain, as oils attract a lot of dust.

    Finally some pros and cons you may consider while buying the bullet:

    Pros:

    1.Powerful, torqy yet fuel efficient engine.

    2.Retro look, people still recognize it as bullet.

    3.Build quality.

    4.Riding comfort – you can literally ride all the day on it without feeling tired.

    5.Pride of owning a legacy.

    6.Good resale value.

    Cons:

    1.No safety features like abs on a bike cost you more that 1.5 lakh.

    2.Skinny tyre at rear, does not match to its heavy build.

    3.Single horn does not sound well, again does not match to its character, need upgrade.

    4.Auto head lamp on feature make engine kill switch useless at red signals.

    5.If you get used to riding this bike, you will just not feel comfortable riding other 150/220 cc bikes

    Ride safe, always wear helmet, follow traffic rule, happy riding

    1.) starting with the buying experience : i bought my bike from royal enfield showroom pathparganj , delhi , the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable , it was a smooth delivering process .2). Riding experience : riding this bike is a wonderful experience and the reason is its seating posture as i switched to re from my yamaha r15 , smooth power delivery and that dug dug sound makes it a amazing machine but don't expect the engine to respond like a sport bike like my r15 as this is a cruiser bike with full metal body , the only problem with the bike is when you go beyond 80kmph as this is the point when one can feel the vibrations on every part of the bike and the stiffer(hard) seat of re makes long rides very uncomfortable , so if you plan to do long rides than don't forget to buy a air seat and also the air cooled engine heats a lot during long rides in summers but its a 350cc air cooled engine so i can't complain about it.     4.Seeing on its maintainence,gives a trendy and affordable management.Little bit.Its engine looks complex,but the durability of its engine is very good.Only once i changed the silencer last year.Its servicing and maintenance is not too expensive. I do this bike servicing once every 4-5 years.The cost effective only is is the petrol consumption of this bike , however ,as per my daily ride , consumption of petrol is a bit more than usual.At all its services and maintenance is affordable.

    Too good styling and
    Ability to cruise at high speeds (90-100 kms/hr) for longer durations.
    Navigation trip meter is also too good.
    Console lighting is too brighter that it can be seen clearly from 50 metres away .
    Riders seat is very comfortable.

    Rear tail light set up
    Low seating are some other pros.
    Cons:- beside all good performances,there are some cons also,that are shaky mirrors,also the problem is of
    Vibrations.
    Also its electrical wiring and wire conduits are loosely attached.Master cylinder is exposed.Plastic built petrol cap key-lid, should be of metal.The need to dismantle the seats and petrol tank to access the engine for general servicing are some negative impacts of it.But at all,as per my experience,i would definitely recommend that this bike is too good.

    Firstly spray your bullet chain every 200 km chain lube is necessary change oil 3000/3500 km it not necessary but its good use always tubeless speed tyre don't use pataka silencer.

    One day i had ridden my friend's bike ... Extremely very good suspension system don't have any vibration and smooth experience .. Specifically the v type 4 stroke engine inspired me..And specifically i feel proud to ride the history...Then the powerful sound i heard at feel positive vibration in my heart.

    I have been riding the classic 350 for the last one year. And the main reason that makes me buy this classic is the looks. I really really like the looks. But when i owned it i find it quiet heavy than i thought. Since its classic there is no fuel level indicator,so this create little bits of problem for me. And what i dislike the most about this bike is the requirement of cleaning and greasing the chain at regular intervals.

  • The best bike you can buy in 1.5 lakh

    I was researching for a bike which was going to replace my pulsar 150 (2005 model with analog speedo and spoke wheels). I was looking for an upgrade from 150 cc segment.

    After extensive research of more than 2 months and riding almost all models of all brands available in pune (upto 220 cc), i shortlisted avenger 220 cruise, pulsar 220f. Hero karizma was dropped from the list just because of that odd looking fearing.

    Avenger cruise was my first choice, however ruled out due to short seat height. My height is 5'10" for reference.

    Pulsar 220 f was class apart, but liked the powerful engine, projector headlamps and overall value for money features. Finally i decided to book a pulsar 220 f.

    The day before i was going to book pulsar, a thought of taking test ride of re bike sparked in my mind. I was looking bikes under 220 cc so this thought never touched me so far. But i thought there is nothing wrong in taking a test ride.

    Next day i went to re showroom and asked for test ride of a basic entry level bike ( i didn’t want to stretch already tight budget), the sales guy offered me test ride of a bullet 350 std variant. What an experience it was!!! i was totally impressed. I realized, once you ride a bullet, you would simply ignore tech-specs and feature packed yet cheaper bikes, you can not compare the experience of riding a bullet with other mid segment bikes :)

    I done my homework on all re bikes and decided to buy an bullet 350 es. Booked bike at brahma motors, wakadewadi, pune on july 25th 2017. There was no waiting period and i was told that i can take delivery in next 2-3 days if i wish. I decided to get delivery on 14th august as it was an auspicious day and informed the dealer.

    I reached the dealership on d-day at 12 pm and after few paperwork and a small ceremony, i was ready to hit the start button! i got only 2 liter of petrol while taking delivery, so went straight to nearby petrol pump and filled the tank up to brims.

    Riding experience:

    To cut the story short, i would only mention points i noted during my short ownership of 45 days and 2000 ticks on odometer.

    Engine was very noisy and warming up quickly before first service at 500 kms. But gradually it became quieter and now only a sweet exhaust note is audible after 1500 kms on odo. Although, does not sound like original ci engine bullets, thanks to updated silencer and engine tuned for bs-iv norms. Little vibrations are still there when you ride in 3rd and 4th gear but vanishes once you cross 50 km/h mark in 5th gear. Gear shift became smoother, however found some false neutrals while shifting from first gear to second and vice-versa.

    Riding posture is very comfortable. It glide over small and medium size potholes, thanks to 19" rims at both ends. Shocks are well designed to take care of your back bone. However, tyres slips on muddy surfaces quite frequently and need to upgrade to wider one. Thinking of changing rear tyre. Brakes perform their duties quit well. Clutch feel a bit hard and tiresome in stop and go traffic. Hope it will also smoothen out gradually. Bike feels very stable on highways. In ghat sections, it really fun to ride as the torque come into play.

    Seats are better cushioned than classic 350. Also, es is marginally taller than classic 350. Taller riders, considering classic must have a test ride on bullet es. It give feel of riding something bigger.

    Looks and performance:

    It is a looker in true sense. It will never let you down in this department. It have right amount of chrome a retro looking bike should have. Front and rear mudguards, handlebar, headlamp case and horn cover also get chrome. Just clean it regularly and it will shine as if you have just brought it from the showroom.

    as of now i am getting mileage of 40 to 43 km/l, which i think not bad for a 350 cc and 187 kg heavy bike.

    I am a sedate rider and not yet pushed it to its limits, hence cant comment on top speed. It may feel sluggish on traffic signals, but when you choose a bullet, you don’t want to participate in road rash. Rather it is not meant for road races. I personally prefer riding it between 45 to 60 km/h.

    Servicing and maintenance:

    After reading too much negative reviews about re ascs, i was wondering about my first service. But to my surprise, i found nothing to complain about at brahma motors service center at wakadewadi, pune. Everything is done precisely well. First service includes oil and oil filter change, so it costs me rs. 1100. Engine oil change is scheduled every alternate service intervals. I.E. Every 6000. Second service which is scheduled at 3000 kms will cost only rs. 300-400 as per the service guy.

    i have made daily habit of:

    1.Idling bike for 3-4 minutes in the morning before i ride.

    2.Inspect clutch and accelerator cables, brakes, lights, engine oil etc.

    3. Inspect tyres for wear and tear. Clear tyre threads from gravels.

    It is good idea to give water-wash and lubricating the bike every 500 kms. Use only chain lubes to lubricate the chain, as oils attract a lot of dust.

    Finally some pros and cons you may consider while buying the bullet:

    Pros:

    1.Powerful, torqy yet fuel efficient engine.

    2.Retro look, people still recognize it as bullet.

    3.Build quality.

    4.Riding comfort – you can literally ride all the day on it without feeling tired.

    5.Pride of owning a legacy.

    6.Good resale value.

    Cons:

    1.No safety features like abs on a bike cost you more that 1.5 lakh.

    2.Skinny tyre at rear, does not match to its heavy build.

    3.Single horn does not sound well, again does not match to its character, need upgrade.

    4.Auto head lamp on feature make engine kill switch useless at red signals.

    5.If you get used to riding this bike, you will just not feel comfortable riding other 150/220 cc bikes

    Ride safe, always wear helmet, follow traffic rule, happy riding

    1.) starting with the buying experience : i bought my bike from royal enfield showroom pathparganj , delhi , the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable , it was a smooth delivering process .2). Riding experience : riding this bike is a wonderful experience and the reason is its seating posture as i switched to re from my yamaha r15 , smooth power delivery and that dug dug sound makes it a amazing machine but don't expect the engine to respond like a sport bike like my r15 as this is a cruiser bike with full metal body , the only problem with the bike is when you go beyond 80kmph as this is the point when one can feel the vibrations on every part of the bike and the stiffer(hard) seat of re makes long rides very uncomfortable , so if you plan to do long rides than don't forget to buy a air seat and also the air cooled engine heats a lot during long rides in summers but its a 350cc air cooled engine so i can't complain about it. The tube tyres will always haunt you during long rides especially when you ride solo. But trust me this bike is not going to put you in any trouble throughout your rides as i didn't feel a single problem with the engine or power delivery during my whole leh ride, just save your tyres from getting punctured.3). Talking about the looks which everybody knows that re is famous for its vintage looks so don't expect a single led in the bike , same old analog speedometer with just a fuel indicator which will only blink when your bike is going to be in reserve, the only change which made re is its self-start. Till date my bike is doing great even though i have done my leh-ladakh trip on my bike last year .I have done almost 16000km on bike but i haven't faced a single problem with the engine till today and this what makes re most trusted brand and machine , one can blindly blindly trust on re .4). The best part about re is its service reach , you can easily get your service done from any local mechanic if you want after your free services , and you can also find the authorized service center for re everywhere , i got my bike serviced in the leh too so now you can imagine re service reach and all its parts are easily available everywhere. Being a rough and tough bike the maintenance of the bike is very low and even the three free services is not going to affect your pocket much as all the three services were under 1500 rs.The chain of the bike needs a little attention as it is open so can easily clean and lube it at regular interval of 15-20 days and your bike will keep going.(i am using motul chain cleaner and lube which is doing its job very well).5). Starting with pros : 1. Easy to maintain 2. One of the best cruiser in the market(in this budget range) 3. Cheap bike parts. 4. Rough and tough bike 5.Comfortable seating posture Cons : 1. Stiffer seats(hard) 2. Engine heating issue during long rides. 3. Weight is on heavier side 4. No fuel level indicator. 5. Tube tyre.

    I bought royal enfield bullet electra 350 in 2016 july and runs total of 35000kms till this time. Very good bike doesn't face any complaint on it ,still running fine. I have been using this bike for short and long rides and gives a mileage of 46kmpl in long rides, and 40-41 kmpl in normal rides. Little disappointed part when owning a royal enfield is on its service and cost of maintenance. I am not satisfied in re authorized service center servicing . Do to this I am giving my vehicle to local mechanic nearby my home who works royal enfield works neat and clean.

    5.Bullet has a lot of missing problem and petrol tank inside air pressure problem and due to which petrol gets into the canister and the petrol tank gets damaged. Due to which we have to bear heavy losses.

    1.First of all , I would share my buying experience of this bike.Thinking of it ,the first word that comes to my mouth is "awesome". That's because ,when,the first time i saw this bike in showroom,i got attracted by its look,and also i got affordable price from dealer for this bike,with good warranty services.And also aftersale services were too impressive.
    2.The first time ,i got a ride on this bike with my brother ,we had gone along 50 kms that day,the ride experience of this is too good.I had bought this bike nearly 5 years ago ,but now also ,it looks like new.Now,i used to go on daily evening ride of about 20 kms to my nearest city park,with my friends.This bike has an amazing ride experience for me.Once what happened,i had gone to goa for a leisure trip.My colleagues challenged me to have this trip by bike ,after much arguments,i confessed.I was in too fear ,since goa trip via bike looks like impossible.But next day morning ,we started the journey to goa,and reached destination after 10 days ,you won't believe,i did this whole trip only by this bike .And hence ,it would be best memorable moment in my whole life.
