Bought Desert Strom 500cc in 2014, Not planned, not even thought of buying it. But this is one of the finest bike I had, I have changed around 30+ bikes by now but this is still the champ.Looks and Performance are Ultra pro max. You feel complete when riding it.Luxury comes with price, So maintenance is little costly for poor people like those who are reading this review.Pros - No vibration even 90+rpmCons- Heavy weight and the colour is little Handle with care.

I am riding this beast for the last 12 years on the streets of pune for my daily commute to the office, practically doing anything whenever I go out. Strong built, reliable, good torque helps you cut the city traffic. City mileage ~ 28kmpl. Servicing costs ~ 3500 to 4000 /-. One issue: frequent clutch cable breaks.

Royal enfield classic 350 model review after driving 50000 kms
2 years ago
Pallav Tyagi
- Previously rates were good but nowadays its too much expensive as compared to performance- comfortable to ride on long route good grips on road- good look compared to other cruise bike of this price range.- service & maintenance is way too high as you have to pay service charge for each part individually which sometimes higher than the actual part cost- must buy bike for cruise experience but if you are low on budget don't buy because maintenance is too high

Not much expect from royal enfield

Within 20000 km i had to change clutch cable, accelerator cable two times. Both rims changed since rims are not capable to bear the weight of the heavy bike on average gutter roads.Front shock to be more heavy. And the company is increasing the price of parts frequently.Always change tyres( especially rear) when the trend goes.

Dream bike but sold it!

Bought the bike in 2014 as it was one of the most eye catching and tourer bike used by most of the riders. The bike has good amount of torque and it gives me a smile in the face everytime i release the throttle. The seating position is super comfortable and the seats are comfy. The suspension of the bike gets rid of the potholes with ease. The handle bar gives a proper control of the bike. The brakes are poor and need to go for the old school riding style of using the gears. The bike vibrates after 80kmph, and the mirror is of no use as it starts vibrating. Mileage we can't expect much from a 500cc but on highways i used to get 30kmpl. The maintenance cost is very high compared to other bikes and the service quality is very poor. Tried servicing with multiple service centres but no luck. Even the parts are of poor quality. Classic 500 is a good machine but the poor quality parts and unskilled labour's are ruining the bike.

Don't ride on low fuel it will kill the fuel injector, clean the bike in order to get rid of rust, don't use aftermarket exhaust.

Hi, i have purchased classic 500 in October-2015 , i would suggest rather request not buy this motorcycle , this is the worst motorcycle, i have seen in my entire life, it's am saying after using it for just 17000 km , one fine day when i riding the bike small knocking sound started coming from engine within a ride of 5 km it was so loud that i stopped the bike & called mechanic of re , he said there is a major problem, i had to replace entire engine , it cost of 27k , till date i have regular servicing of re from showroom ,still this happened ,after asking service engineer he said is this problems happens in most of 500 , somehow i tried to digest this but one more surprise was waiting for me against in 6 days of time motor stop working i again called the mechanic he said there is minor issue with starter . He did sometime & it starting but this was not the all , against after two days motor stopped working , i got really frustrated & asked re service to solve the problem , he said start has got damaged its be on repair , i had spent more 14k on this Conclusion : 60 k spend on repairing for use of 17k km, not worth for a bike like this.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH CLASSIC 500. MUST READ IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUY
6 years ago
Sreekar
IF you are looking for a good looking cruiser bike no one can beat it and everyone will be looking around to see the bike but people may not enjoy the thump as the rider do. Post 80 kmph the mirrors and bike vibrate a lot you cannot see anything in the mirrors and whole bike vibrates after 80kmph and the nuts loosen fast and the metal tend to rust and bike can stop anytime as the build quality is much better. IF YOU CAN LIVE WITH THESE PROBLEMS YOU CAN BUY THIS BIKE. IT DEFINITELY DOES NOT WORTH 2 LAKHS YOU GET BETTER DOMINAR AT THE SAME PRICE...

High maintenance and not reliable!!!

I own a Royal Enfield Classic 500 which was bought in November of 2015. My brother had the bike for about an year and then it was passed on to me. The odometer was at 13000 Kms when I got the bike permanently and not like on weekends with permission. The bike was well maintained by him and serviced timely by authorised service centre.I was riding the bike on a rainy day and while on my daily 15 Km commute, the engine was vaporising the rain drops. It was a lot of vapour so I had to stop at every couple of kilometres. I got the bike checked and it came to my knowledge that the 500cc model has overheating issue.Soon after my injector had issues. The self start did not work well. I was advised to get the injector removed and get a carburettor installed which coated me Rs 20,000. My 1.5 yrs bike now started emitting white smoke. At first I ignored it because I was getting it serviced on time and had already spent a lot on getting the injector installed. In a month or so I felt performance drop in the bike and the noise from the engine had increased. I got to bike checked and it came to my knowledge that the head of the piston needs to be replaced and the cylinder kit as well. The estimated cost of which is at-least Rs 20,000. The bike had burned the 3 Litre engine oil in less than 1000 Kms. I am done with the bike now. I know the feeling of riding a bullet which caused be to buy the top model bullet and in my opinion it is the worst. DO NOT BUY IF YOU CANT PAY FOR THE REPAIRS WHICH WILL SURELY OCCUR.I never changed the EXHAUST of the bike and I do hyper-miling to get the best mileage. I am getting around 30kmpl but I spending a lot on engine oil because the repair cost is a lot and still there won't be any guarantee that the issue will never re-occur.

Get the bike serviced at 2500 kilometres to avoid any damage to the cylinder kit. Check the engine oil level weekly. Never change the exhaust as it will kill the engine.
