Himalayan name shows its specially made for Indian road condition with single cylinder 411 cc air cooled engine. I bought himalayan for extreme offroad adventure. I have done 6000 kms with some long rides about 500-700 kms in a day. And some stretch ride of 300 kms too. I rides single and its very comfortable with cushion seats .Riding posture is very good for long rides. Handle bar is wider than common bikes. Offroad riding on himalayan is extreme and proved its name “himalayan”. Its very balanced on offroad condition . I can easily ride over 60 kmph in offroad. On highway its very good with top speed of 130 kmph. Smooth engine noise till 100 kmph on highway. Its very heavy having 182 kg dry weight.

Himalayan looks beautiful and attractive. Led tail lamp attracts people in traffic with hazard light option. Instrument cluster has compass first in this price segment, outside temperature gauge ,gear shift indicator. Re first time introduces oil cooler in this bike which works well in touring. Speed is also available in mph mark but i think its not useful in india because people uses kmph instead of mph. Rear wide tyre gives decent cornering abilities. People with short heights hard to maneuver in traffic due to height of handlebar.

Maintenance of this bike is lower than other re bikes. I spent 2000 rs till 6000 km riding experience.

Pros

This bike is very good offroader and tourer too.

maintenance cost is about 1200 rs till 6000 km. Oil change interval is about 10000 km as per service manual.

Comfortable among this segment is unmatchable.

Cons

Gear box is quit harder between 1st gear and neutral position.

Clutch is harder too. I changed clutch plate under warranty on 3500 kms because it was hard to shift.

Welding quality disappointed me. Plastic quality is also bit lower specially in rear mud guard.

Wind shield is bit lower.

I bought by bike from royal enfield kandivali -west. The service provided by them was very good. I got my bike within 5-7 days of my booking. I choose this bike because i like to travel a lot and being a travel cruiser this is the first choice of many people like me. This offers everything that a travel cruiser in this price range should offer. The looks of the bike are also very rugged and masculine. The performance of the bike is very good. The servicing is the part where i find this bike a little behind although the bike is very good but the servicing offered to me by the company is not as excepted, you can say that experience was average neither bad nor good.

Well after buying this machine i’m really big fan of re.In this price we hardly get to see all terrain bike in this rate.As i am into riding nowadays.This bike has got many talent on roads and also on off roads.This is very much helpful in city traffic.And best thing is the maneuvering is just superb.As i am thankful to re for launching such a superb bike.And seats of this bike is much comfortable it’s doesn't have any problem on long rides.

Firstly i don't own this bike. Its my cousin's bike which i ride occasionally for leisure rides on weekends.. My overall rating for this bike is 5/5 because the himalayan deserves it. Though i ride only on weekends, the experience has been too good so far. The throttle response is good. Of-course, there are vibrations once u rev it up harder be it a bullet/classic/himalayan/electra etc but does that really matter to a re fan? i really don't care about the vibrations because what makes excited is the feel of the bike that i get at lower rpms. For me, its just a day's riding experience on this bike which makes me more and more excited for the next weekend ride. I really love the experience on the himalayan. Its the best machine in Indian market in its price range to explore the toughest routes. I am planning to buy the fi version in a month or two. Kudos to royal enfield for such a great innovation. With the himalayan, begins a new era of motorcycling.
