Suzuki Gixxer Summary

Price: Suzuki Gixxer price for its variant - Gixxer Single Channel ABS starts at Rs. 1,31,033. The price for the other variant - Gixxer Ride Connect is Rs. 1,40,373. The mentioned Gixxer prices are the average ex-showroom.

Suzuki Gixxer is a street bike available in 2 variants and 6 colours. The Suzuki Gixxer is powered by 155cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 13.41 bhp and a torque of 13.8 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Suzuki Gixxer comes up with anti-locking braking system. This Gixxer bike weighs 141 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 12 liters.

The Gixxer is a 155cc premium commuter in Suzuki’s portfolio which received a major update in 2019 after its predecessor remained majorly unchanged for five years since its inception. The current-gen model gets Suzuki’s new-age design with a few added features over the previous iteration.

The styling of the new Gixxer is profoundly sporty with sharp lines and contours across its body panels. The oblong-shaped headlamp unit houses LED lamp and is surrounded by a brushed silver bezel. The compact tail lamp is also an LED unit while the turn indicators comprise of conventional bulbs. One of the design highlights of the motorcycle is a dual-exhaust canister with a chrome-finished tip. Meanwhile, the Gixxer instrumentation comprises a white backlit fully digital console.

Clinging onto its diamond frame is a 155cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. This has been reworked to comply with BS6 emission norms which have resulted in a drop in its performance over the BS4 model. Pumping out 13.4bhp and 13.8Nm, it comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. Suspension duties continue to be taken care of by telescopic forks up front and monoshock at the rear while braking is done by disc brakes at both ends equipped with single-channel ABS.

The 2019 Suzuki Gixxer is offered in three colour options - Glass Sparkle Black, Metallic Sonic Silver/Glass Sparkle Black, Metallic Triton Blue/ Glass Sparkle Black, and the jazzy Pearl Mira Red. The Suzuki Gixxer 150 price competes against the Yamaha FZ S V3, Honda CB Hornet 160R and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V price in its segment.

Suzuki Gixxer Review

  • Good Things

    • Easy to ride in the city
    • Gets a smooth and potent engine
    • Offers comfortable ergonomics
  • Could be Better

    • Ride quality is moderately stiff
    • Headlamp illumination could be better

BikeWale's Take

The 2019 Gixxer remains the same peppy 155cc motorcycle with impressive handling dynamics and comfortable ergonomics. What makes the premium commuter further enticing is the introduction of full-LED lighting, updated instrumentation and fresh styling.

Suzuki Gixxer Expert Opinion

We had a short stint with the new Gixxer to admire (or disapprove) its cosmetic transformation and to recall how capable, if at all, the Gixxer is.

The bike is good but their parts & service are valueless. Even after 5000 km, the vehicle battery is damaged. They don’t satisfy the customer. Even the service center also not know how to connect with customer care if any problem happens. I have not driven my bike for more than 5000 km and it’s battery become damaged.

Suzuki Gixxer - not showstopper but meets expectations

      Nilesh Kulkarni

      Hi all,
I have been using a Suzuki gixxer for almost 10 years- 40000 kilometers. most of the drive in Cities like Mumbai and Pune. The bike is comfortable only for short distances and daily commute to the office. It's a pain if you have to wait in traffic, drive slowly. The seats are not at all comfortable. It's better if you are single be you can ride 50km and 100km comfortably but with a co-passenger- that's very bad comfort. Co co-passenger seat is very very pathetic not sure why Suzuki still gives seats like that. I see Yamaha made changes in seat structure a lot back in their FZ models.
Bike engine performance - I would rate it 4 out 5 - mileage is 35 kmpl, acceleration is still the same, and I do regular servicing. I saw a minor engine leakage- Suzuki was not able to fix that, every time the service center said it was fixed, eventually after a few days I observed oil stains over the engine. I see engine vibrations are increasing but still on the lower side.
Build quality - it is good, my bike is red- and the plastic used over the tail light - color is fading and I see it every other gixxer around me. Overall material is good.
Gear transmission - it's smooth not facing any issues till now.
Maintenance - not much required. Service after 15k km ride. suggested having a long life on a bike.

      1. Good buying experience from SP Suzuki Kandivali, got delivery in 5 days after payment.
      2. Comfortable upright seating. Sweet spot below 5k rpm after which there are some vibrations. Sometimes gets stuck on 2 gear and is not able to go to 1 gear unless you switch it off and go to neutral.
      3. Love the tail light but would prefer LED turn signals and probably the older version of halogen lamps. Has a dual nature when you want to ride timidly it is very mellow but can growl like an animal when driven aggressively.
      4. The service center addressed all my issues and the cost is manageable.
      5. Pros. Performance, Mileage
Cons. Headlight throw, rear view mirror coverage,

      Neither Good Nor Bad

      Kabir Rahman

      Pros -
      1) Handling is superb.
      2) It gives good riding feel in good road conditions.
      3) It has good mileage.
      Cons -
      1) Pillion seat comfort is disgusting. The pillion slides forwards whenever the rider uses brakes.
      2) The too-hard suspension gives bumpy rides on bad road conditions.
      3) Parts availability and service network is not wide enough.
Conclusion- You can go with this motorcycle if you don’t have a pillion . If the road conditions are good then it will surely give good riding feel with a good mileage. And please make sure the Suzuki dealership is near you because of its parts unavailability and weak service network.
Thank you , hope my words are helpful 😊

      Tips for other riders

Don’t ride the bike at higher rpm’s because the engine heats up quickly than usual bikes.

Facing problem in suzuki service centres

      Avijit Ray

The buying experience was good the bike looks like a naked monster, riding this bike in the city as well as on highways it's a reliable partner, performance wise by me it's the best in this segment, and service and maintenance are also not too high it takes around 1to2k per service.... But the biggest problem I have faced is after-sales service... Local mechanics can't service this bike it's mechanism is quite different than others and the service centers available in my locality are not working properly every time I have serviced my bike I was not satisfied so please check the service centres before buying any suzuki bike not only gixxer... Thank you.

      High price

      Arjyadeb Mallick

Price is very high according to power, go for apache 160 4v it's a better choice than Suzuki.. Suzuki just trying to make a low-power bike and selling at a high price .. if you buying it just for wasting your money so don't buy, for another bike.. Suzuki needs to sell it at 1.1 lakh rupees it's the best price for this bike..

Poor performance with in 10000km my engine is seized without any reason

      Vivek Sharma

Poor performance within 10000km my engine is seized without any reason now the bike performance is very poor,
I was bought a Suzuki Gixxer in January 2020 and it started making noise in the engine a few days ago, that's why I showed my bike in the service center, now it has been a maximum of 15 to 20 days but the parts in the service center have not come yet. , If I do not get part in 3 days, then I will put a complaint in consumer care.
