Reviews of Yamaha FZ X

Pro:
1. Great road presence. Randomly people would ask me which bike is it.
2. Mileage is good.
3. Great for daily commute.
4. Bike has good balance and always in control.
5. Midrange is good.
6. Rode till ahillong after first servicing. Didn't disappoint. As its a very good cruising motorcycle.
7. Seat is comfortable for long rides.
8. Brakes are too good.
9. Tyres are dependable. Even tried on bad roads, and hilly slopes. Didn't get a hick up.
10. No maintenance. Since purchase only invested on petrol and servicing. Battery never stalled yet.
Cons:
1. Needed a bit more top end performance. Its comfortable till 80kmph. Starts vibrating once it crosses 80. Can't complain as its a commuter.
2. Headlights are good for Narrow lanes. But needed more power on highways.
3. Gear Lever are bit on the stiffer side, quality needed to be bit on the better side.

1. Buying experience: I bought it during festival time and it felt like buying from a fish market. The salesperson had no time to explain the features or offer a trial ride but since I had researched it, I bought it anyways. Some accessories were missing which I got later from the showroom.
2. Riding experience: It is a comfortable cruise ride and the engine is refined and smooth. You won't get tired soon. However, the shock ups are really hard and even slight bumps transfer the jerk to your spine. if you have spinal problems, you could consider this before buying. With a pillion rider, the jerks are substantially muted though.
3. Looks, performance etc: With its novel neo-retro look, this bike is surely a head-turner. The engine is peppy and reliable. I have ridden it 200 km in a day without any overheating issues. The torque at the first gear is good but fizzles out in the middle and top gears at low speeds. In urban areas, you will need to change gears frequently.
4. This is a tricky part. The service interval of 3000 km is short for a cruise bike. The first free service costs about Rs 1100 and progressively increases with each 'free service'. The paid service costs about 600 bucks more. It makes the overall maintenance relatively more expensive than premium bikes like the Harley Davidson X 440. Also, the service centers do not have enough space. In my case, Ratlam Motors in Indore is careless and unprofessional in handling under-service bikes. They park the bike on open street after the service where it is open to tempering by passer byes or street kids till you reach to pick it up.

Extremely comfortable bike. You can ride long distances very comfortably. Although the high end performance is okay, Mid and low end performance is perfect for City riding. You sure get lots of looks on street with this retro looking bike. Also it gives a good mileage of 40-42 km/l in the city!. Never been on highway though.. Will have to check.

You may go on a long ride on FZ-X, but As FZ-X doesn't feature a big engine so there can be an issue. Most of all I like the braking, handling, and ride comfort of this bike. Below 60 kph, it has good pickup when switching from one gear to another which also gives a good kick to the rider. Overall I would say there are other bikes around 50k cheaper than this which would probably give you the same levels of performance.
