    John

Yamahas are excellent bikes. I have owned many both on the Indian subcontinent and the U.S. But I have never understood Yamaha India's penchant (and marketing oversight) for not accessorizing their bikes and scooters. These days it is very important and could very well be a competitive edge for others not to buy other vehicles but yamaha.
With the advent of the tvs’s ntorq 125, to use this example, it set new standards and increased sales. Yet yamaha couldn't even begin to match the new features and accessories that made this model so popular at the same price!
The upside of this scooter is great ride ability, turning, acceleration, smoothness, quietness, responsiveness, seating comfort, and fuel economy, which I get from 48--51 km/l.
But yamaha, at the same price as the ntorq, couldn’t even begin to match, for example, the ntorq.
No handle brakes, lock for safety, so the scooter rolls if not on an absolutely level surface. And already my new scooter has fallen over once.
    • no rear tyre mud cover to prevent mud from throwing on pillion.
    • no clock.
    • no bluetooth connectivity.
    • no modern switches.
    • no led headlight and turn signals.
    • no under-the-seat light.
    • no turn signal warning buzzer.
    • no four-way flasher.
    • no 12” rear wheel.
    • no attractive silencer.
    • no ladies foot stand.
    • no storage in front apron.
    • no adequate foot room for tall drivers.
    • no brightly lit instrument cluster.
    • no attractive body stickers. (what does “standard gear” mean and why would you consider this appealing?
Further, there are also these issues:
    1. With a pillion the bike felt less stable, the total passenger weight overcomes the light weight of the
    scooter itself.
    2. Front disc brake is spongy
    3. Overly chunky design could be more streamlined.
    4. Seat fits sloppy, not well designed.
    5. Need better tyre design with better traction, certainly and ideally with bigger wheels.
    6. Stop & start system mostly a nuisance, as engine turns off too quickly when having no intention for long
stopping wait period. I just usually turn it off.
If one is not interested in accessories and features, then it is a good city scooter, especially for its great fuel economy and its light weight, which provides ease of handling and faster speed. Other than this, better look elsewhere.

Brakes are too good. abs on braking make you feel comfortable. 5. Comfortable on while riding long distance. There was no jerking. 6. Stylish looking. 7.Yamaha brand value and their engine.
    Cons : 1.No led headlight.
    2. No Bluetooth connectivity

    Vishal

I bought the street rally version 20 days (approx) before. Wonderful riding experience. Due to lockdown, till now i have done 150km approx. Regarding mileage - it took 1.5 litres pertrol for exact 100km (measured using trip metre). Under seat storage is little less as it can not fit full size (m) helmet in it. Breaking is good. I don't know what is the prob. But the seat cover provided by the company doesn't allow the seat to lock and you have to adjust the seat to lock it. I will make it check during 1st service. Accelerator is little hard and you may face wrist pain on above 15km ride(that can be fixed in service centre). Even tough it doesn't have led headlight, you will not face any issue. Engine is smooth. The street rally cyan blue looks awesome and attracts many riders in traffic.

  • Nothing but premium!

    Rhilo

Let me start off straight with the only con i had with this scooter, no charging port. That's it!The first time i bought this, and till today, the experience each time i ride has been really wonderful. Feels very premium and does the job way better than expected. I've ridden the old first legend of ray z series and i tell you it had me going with full satisfaction till today for more than 5 years, now with the new ray zr 125, i have an even better riding experience. The first thing that caught me loving this was it's ignition. You can barely hear the ignition start and directly notice only the engine running. It's like magic everytime i start my ride. I admit it, sometimes i end up doing that for fun even when i'm not gonna ride. If you are a freak who loves 'ride start up videos' you gonna love this one weirdly.Next up was the 'side stand safety feature' that really gave a 'bang for the buck' ! i know, paying more than almost 90k for a scooter( depends on the region) was worth it for me as i tell you why i love this ride. When the side stand is on, the ride wont start. And when you are coming to a halt and prepare to stop riding, just kick in the side stand and it will stop the engine. How wonderful is that! this feature has been even in top tier bikes like the bmw s1000rr 2019 models, i know it's in no comparison to that bike but extra features like this in small displacment rides really ices the cake! and not forgetting a small function which is not available in most scooters is the eco mode switch. I don't know how much it actually saves but it is something which the rest of its contenders don't give. It lowers the performance a little to save more fuel and in long term use, i believe it actually saves you alot of money although i don't have enough stats as i'm not good with numbers. Also I advice you to go for the version which has the front disk break as it will really save you in the long run and the scooters with no disk breaks are quite outdated plus it gives you a better stopping power. The old scooter i had was great but the new one has even better stopping capabilities and never failed me once. ( i didn't have to press that hard with the new one unlike the old robust one with no break disk) slight price increase in the variants but definitely worth it!Talking about the looks, head to the bottom, all 5 out of 5, the best thing was the 'rims'. It looks premium, feels premium and style is premium. Yamaha has done a great job in bringing style to the scooters with its beautiful star type spoke 'rims'.The one that came close to the winner is the little 'running light' at front that adds up to making it 5 on 5 for the viewing experience. The styling of the ride itself is really awesome. Some small features like the sharp great looking mirrors and the extra layer near the passenger paddle helps in proper grip, then we have the cable protectors near the front tires which people really doesn't notice but i tell you it saves and does great in doing what it does! also in the tail section, there is a clean matt black bar to help the passanger to hold which is actually very nice to hold on to. Plus you can hold boxes and tie them in the seat if you need more stuffs to carry. Talking about carrying, i'm amazed with the storage compartment below the seat which is very spacious and also the lock grip at front is another small feature that holds my belongings well and locks them properly in place.Well i could go on and on but that will be a really long long list as there are so much that i loved about. All these things put up together have really made the ray zr 125 to stand out from the rest of its competitors. The minute i saw that ride, i decided to go for it only without looking anywhere else. This is why paying a little high amount for even a scooter was totally worth it for me and i hope it will be the same for those who are looking to buy a little premium quality with tons of nifty features to take the riding game to the next level. The con about having a phone charger can be avoided by just carrying a power bank with you or if at all costs you want actually one, you could to to the garage and modify one with a couple of thousand rupees, but nothing better than having a power bank or a fully charged phone with you, plus using phone is a distraction and very dangerous especially riding two wheelers. Ride safe ! stay safe everyone!Hope this helps you out in deciding whether to go for this or not.

  • Don't consider as review its just my experience while using it

    Ramcharanreddy

I have purchased this bike in July 2020 up-to till date i have completed 10700 km riding. Coming directly to the points.Negatives1) front suspension could be better.2) headlights are dim compare to other scooters better if coming version it could be upgraded.3) most of the people are unaware of the model scooter.4) servicing could be better in service centres in Hyderabad especially. They don't lesson the customer problems we have to spend our personal time in the service centre to look after the problem that could be closed in a particular service only.Positives1) performance of scooter is very stable at every speed my top speed was 98 at that speed I was not able to find jerk in the ride when the ride was in highways.2) in traffic the scooter is very eased to handle like bicycle due to its less weight.3) coming to the mileage till now never filled the fuel in a small amount. I per to fill the fuel from full tank to full tank. As per the company, this scooter has 5.2 lt capacity but when I filled it I think its only 5 lt. I use to ride around 300 km to 310 km in the economy (speed, not more than 63 kmph. In 60+ speed i use to get 280 to 295 km for a full tank in cities. I daily ride min 50 km which is home to office to home. (note if u do service for every 2500 km to 3000 km).4) seating is a comfort even much better in triple riding.5) looks are very good (from the back it looks like bike until we come to a side angle.

  • Nice but omission of too many needed features

  • Before 1st service review

    Sourabh Das

This scooter is very light weight only 99kg.
The main reason to buy this over others was its weight & looks & mileage.
It has latest hybrid features as well as Yamaha engine quality will ensure you ride for years.
Go for it if you are looking for a sporty design with light weight and great mileage & awesome performance..
    Mileage:-
    I got 55 - 57 kmpl everytime in city & 59 - 61 kmpl in highway.. it's a great mileage for a scooter..

  • Before 1st service review
