Let me start off straight with the only con i had with this scooter, no charging port. That's it!The first time i bought this, and till today, the experience each time i ride has been really wonderful. Feels very premium and does the job way better than expected. I've ridden the old first legend of ray z series and i tell you it had me going with full satisfaction till today for more than 5 years, now with the new ray zr 125, i have an even better riding experience. The first thing that caught me loving this was it's ignition. You can barely hear the ignition start and directly notice only the engine running. It's like magic everytime i start my ride. I admit it, sometimes i end up doing that for fun even when i'm not gonna ride. If you are a freak who loves 'ride start up videos' you gonna love this one weirdly.Next up was the 'side stand safety feature' that really gave a 'bang for the buck' ! i know, paying more than almost 90k for a scooter( depends on the region) was worth it for me as i tell you why i love this ride. When the side stand is on, the ride wont start. And when you are coming to a halt and prepare to stop riding, just kick in the side stand and it will stop the engine. How wonderful is that! this feature has been even in top tier bikes like the bmw s1000rr 2019 models, i know it's in no comparison to that bike but extra features like this in small displacment rides really ices the cake! and not forgetting a small function which is not available in most scooters is the eco mode switch. I don't know how much it actually saves but it is something which the rest of its contenders don't give. It lowers the performance a little to save more fuel and in long term use, i believe it actually saves you alot of money although i don't have enough stats as i'm not good with numbers. Also I advice you to go for the version which has the front disk break as it will really save you in the long run and the scooters with no disk breaks are quite outdated plus it gives you a better stopping power. The old scooter i had was great but the new one has even better stopping capabilities and never failed me once. ( i didn't have to press that hard with the new one unlike the old robust one with no break disk) slight price increase in the variants but definitely worth it!Talking about the looks, head to the bottom, all 5 out of 5, the best thing was the 'rims'. It looks premium, feels premium and style is premium. Yamaha has done a great job in bringing style to the scooters with its beautiful star type spoke 'rims'.The one that came close to the winner is the little 'running light' at front that adds up to making it 5 on 5 for the viewing experience. The styling of the ride itself is really awesome. Some small features like the sharp great looking mirrors and the extra layer near the passenger paddle helps in proper grip, then we have the cable protectors near the front tires which people really doesn't notice but i tell you it saves and does great in doing what it does! also in the tail section, there is a clean matt black bar to help the passanger to hold which is actually very nice to hold on to. Plus you can hold boxes and tie them in the seat if you need more stuffs to carry. Talking about carrying, i'm amazed with the storage compartment below the seat which is very spacious and also the lock grip at front is another small feature that holds my belongings well and locks them properly in place.Well i could go on and on but that will be a really long long list as there are so much that i loved about. All these things put up together have really made the ray zr 125 to stand out from the rest of its competitors. The minute i saw that ride, i decided to go for it only without looking anywhere else. This is why paying a little high amount for even a scooter was totally worth it for me and i hope it will be the same for those who are looking to buy a little premium quality with tons of nifty features to take the riding game to the next level. The con about having a phone charger can be avoided by just carrying a power bank with you or if at all costs you want actually one, you could to to the garage and modify one with a couple of thousand rupees, but nothing better than having a power bank or a fully charged phone with you, plus using phone is a distraction and very dangerous especially riding two wheelers. Ride safe ! stay safe everyone!Hope this helps you out in deciding whether to go for this or not.

Performance, styling and road presence are just like woww! But the drawback is the battery issue it drains very quickly if we can't start it for one day I don't know why this is happening, while doing my first service I mentioned the issue they said due to many sensors this problem may occur and they dis-attached my bluetooth connection from scooty and they said, check for few days if this problem occurs again then they will claim my battery in warranty. But it's a disappointment for me within a month how a new scooter battery gets drained out without any reason. After doing some research my ray-zr is facing the same problem.
Yamaha kindly work on it otherwise it will ruin your best product in the market. No doubt about the performance and pickup. And another point is mileage, many people in YouTube vlogs are saying they are getting a mileage of 70/80kmpl but I feel it's fake. Company claiming ig between 50-60kmpl but still I'm getting mileage in between 40-47kmpl. Maybe due to less drive. I just hope this feedback will help you out.

After using about 8 months, my mileage is constantly showing 52.2 km/l. It's ok for normal daily usage like 25-30 km per day. Rest things are ok. Service charges are a little higher compared to other scooters.

It has been 6 months since I bought this scooter at Palladam Kavin Motors. I have tested it with a full tank capacity of petrol. It gives mileage of 50 to 52 and is great to drive. Showroom officials are very kind. They provide the best service. Whenever I call, they clear my doubts I have recommended this scooter to my friends.

  • Good bike in terms of performance but plastic like body and worst servicing in Imphal ruined the game

    Phanjoubam Herojit

If you are from Manipur, the honest advice is, DON'T BUY IT. It is not worth the money. The service centre is pathetic - no working phone, no working WhatsApp number to contact them for service booking. You are compelled to visit physically for booking. I bought it from an authorized dealer "Pakhangba Motors". On the day of selling, they were happy as much as I was happy to own it. After 1 month, the scooter starts producing noise in the front part of the body. I took it for servicing and they do not have any knowledge of how to fix it. In 2024, I got a letter from YAMAHA Motors India which called for potential faults in manufacturing and they provided free servicing and replacement of some parts in front of the scooter. I went to a service center and they flatly rejected such offers.
Overall, the engine is high-performing. My body is not good. The mileage is also not good. The service centre is Imphal's worst.
Don't recommend this scooter or any bikes from YAMAHA in Imphal, Manipur.

  • The 125cc scooter beast a rival to all the same cc bikes.

    Jayanta Kar

I've seen Honda Shine Sp 125 and other 125 bikes but this scooter is capable of beating them all in all aspects, being the lightest scooter in the market when you ride at around 70-80 you feel like flying. Mileage is something I believe is confusing and one department where bikes have some standard, for example, I brought this scooter on July 1st week. It was giving me roughly 52kmpl at that time but after the first servicing, it has marginally increased to 53. But that's the actual confusing case of this scooter coming into the act, if you ride with 2 pillions for 10km the mileage drastically decreases, and it comes back to 53 again after when I ride alone for 2-3 days. The action repeats like that. So basically if you want better mileage you can only drive alone and on highway roads as well. Rough and off-roading also impacts the mileage. It's my honest review after having owned this scooter for almost 3-4 months.

The Yamaha ray zr was a good scooter but the mileage was only 50, The service person in Medavakkam said mileage would be around 35-40 and my concern was the display vibration after 2 services they were not able to rectify it completely disappointed. Free service will be fined 200 because of extra km driven and they take two days of delivery.

The staff are highly professional and helpful. The scooter is smooth to ride and easy to handle. Excellent fuel mileage with its economy mode allowing for beyond even 60km of riding with 1liter. Easy to handle and overall easy break system while still powerful. Is fast and wonderful at takeovers. Best bang for your buck.

  • Service was worst

    Raghul Kannan

The Yamaha ray zr was a good scooter but the mileage was only 50, The service person in Medavakkam said mileage would be around 35-40 and my concern was the display vibration after 2 services they were not able to rectify it completely disappointed. Free service will be fined 200 because of extra km driven and they take two days of delivery.

  • Yamaha Ray ZR 125

    Vedant Mandhare
