Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R [2018-2019] Summary

With a legacy that goes back 34 years, the 2019 Ninja ZX-6R is the latest iteration of Kawasaki’s middle-weight supersport offering. Positioned below the flagship ZX-10R, the ZX-6R is for budding motorcyclists upgrading from entry-level performance machines. The motorcycle has recently received an update which was unveiled at EICMA 2018 in Milan. For the latest generation, apart from a few tweaks to the motor and added electronics, the bike has undergone few styling updates.

The front end has been revised with a more sculpted look giving it more aggression. It also gets a restyled windscreen and exhaust system. The tail section is entirely new which is now sleeker and compact. All lights on the bike are now LED.

The middleweight supersport is powered by a revised 636cc liquid-cooled inline-four mill with a shorter final ratio for improved low rpm power delivery. Power figures stand at 126bhp of maximum power and 70.6Nm of peak torque. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox that is assisted by a slipper clutch. It also gets a quick shifter for upshifts as standard equipment.

Built around an aluminium perimeter frame, the ZX-6R boosts lightweight construction that is sprung on adjustable Showa SFF-BP front forks up front and a fully-adjustable UNI-TRAK unit for the rear. The motorcycle gets adjustable traction control with three levels of adjustment. Braking is done by 310mm twin-disc setup with Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System (KIBS) and 4-piston monobloc calipers for the front. For the rear, the bike gets a 210mm petal disc with a single-piston caliper. The ZX-6R runs on new Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tyres.

Currently, the Kawasaki ZX-6R doesn’t face any direct competition in India, although one can have a look at the Triumph Street Triple RS as well.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R [2018-2019] Review

  • Good Things

    • Gets a performance-focused engine
    • Offers an aggressive riding position
  • Could be Better

    • Can be difficult to ride in the city
    • Could do with wider service network

BikeWale's Take

The Ninja ZX-6R is a pure performance-focused motorcycle from Kawasaki. It uses a high-revving 636cc, inline-four cylinder engine and gets a aggresive riding position to match. However, this riding position could make it difficult to ride in the city. Moreover, the Ninja ZX-6R could do with a wider service network.

Some words for kawasaki ninja zx6r.

      Baijit Rahaman

Actually i have never owned zx6r but it's my dream bike among the best 600 cc segment bikes. I rode that bike on 15th august 2019 and it was my dream which came true. Kawasaki zx6r has a looks similar to ninja 400. It gets a aggressive looks which makes the rider feel young. It service is 6000 rupees for every 15000 kms. It's mileage is around 13-17. Being a dreamer, i feel humerus and get entertain . Everyday at night when i think about the delivery of bike i become breathing in happiness.....Thank you.

I personally prefer to make an actual service zx6r after every 15000 kms. It costs around 53000 ( including tyres )

      Ashwinder Singh

its my dream bike and studied a lot more about bikes and this bike is the beast in 600cc segment but the things which are missing that is auto blipper , tft display rest everything is perfect
about its performance it can go 232 kmph top speed
and can go 150 very easily
I think a person should by a superbike rather than a car as traffic is more so bike can go more faster in traffic and acquire less space
      advantages
      =less budget
      =super bike
      =track bike
      =can be daily use
      =more than sufficient speed
      disadvantages
      =auto blipper
      =tft display.

Green inline screamer zx6r what a beauty

      Kanishk Mishra

Well i bought this green screamer a week back & my god it didn't disappoint me at all. Kawasaki lucknow delivered me this bike in no time, it took them 4 working days to import this bike from their pune plant. Aggressive handling proper sport machine with breathtaking torque & power. It's easy to commute in traffic because of its light weight & low power till 4000 rpm but as soon you cross the 7000 rpm mark, you actually get to know what this beast is made of. In no time it can cross the speed of 150km/hr. I fell in love with this beauty the day i saw her, i was confused between ducati supersport s & zx6r but hands down this wins in all the aspects. There is only one con about this bike i.E bike misses on auto blipper.
